Benefit Gala 2015
Dear Friends of Loyola School,
Spring weather is finally here! After a long, or should I say very long, winter, it is nice to see the tulips coming up on Park Avenue just in time for A Night on Broadway! Loyola’s Annual Benefit Gala is our most important fundraising event of the year. At A Night on Broadway, we are very grateful for the auction gifts received, the journal ads taken, the underwriting offered, the tables sponsored, the raffle tickets purchased and the wonderful volunteer efforts put forth. I am sure that our attendees are wowed by the work of our Decorating Chairs, Patricia Scarpelli, P’15, ’16 and Sheila Vestergom P‘17. Our wonderful volunteers were brought together this evening by the Volunteer Chair Dina Rose, P’17. The Silent Auction is filled with lots of terrific items because of the efforts of Chairs from our senior class, Geraldine Coffey (also the mother of a junior and an alumnus), Nella Pramberger, and Geraldine Smyth. The live fun tonight is brought to us by our dedicated Live Auction Chairs, Roxanne Donovan, P’15, ’17 and Brigitte Carzis P’15 – who encourage all to bid, bid, bid! Our exciting new raffle was chaired by Trish Tobin, P’17, while Rosario Baldwin, P’16 helped lead our journal ad effort. And, of course, our dedicated and wonderfully creative Gala Chairs of A Night on Broadway are Roxanne Donovan, P’15, ’17; Elise McVeigh P’18; and Sheila Vestergom P’17.
We cannot forget to acknowledge the work of our Advancement Office, as well. Advancement Associate, Rose Dugan, managed our Journal efforts along with so many finer details. Our jack-of-all-trades, Mary Ann Minson ’99, helped our volunteers organize gifts received and organize our event setup. Lara Torsky, our Director of Annual Giving, helped wherever help was needed and our Director of Special Events, Joe Acciarito, has also put in tireless hours in bringing all of us together to celebrate our Loyola School. All the while, our Vice President for Advancement, Samantha Hanley ‘87, has led the way in creating this wonderful evening. I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the loss of Terry Keenan Kass who graciously, and excitedly, had agreed to help chair our Gala this year, as well as the loss of Michael Vestergom, the husband of chair Sheila Vestergom. We know that Terry and Michael would have been with us on this joyous evening and we offer our love to Ron and Benno Kass and Sheila and Natalie Vestergom as we prayerfully remember both Terry and Michael.
Thank you for your support. Please do review the tribute ads within this Journal which salute our community, acknowledge student and faculty accomplishments, and describe services offered by our valued merchants. Now, let’s help Night on Broadway become a show that we will all remember and which will help make great things happen for Loyola School.
Bid, Bid, Bid!
Tony Oroszlany ‘87 President
Benefit Gala 2015
Dear Families, Friends, and Alumni of Loyola School,
Welcome to the 23rd Annual Benefit Gala, A Night on Broadway! Enjoy this festive opportunity as we gather with friends, faculty, administrators, alumni, and trustees to celebrate and support Loyola School.
Like any great Broadway production, this evening’s event was produced and directed by a talented and dedicated team which is headed by the Gala Chairs: Roxanne Donovan, Elise McVeigh and Sheila Vestergom. Best supporting actors include the Live Auction Chairs, Brigitte Carzis and Roxanne Donovan; Silent Auction Chairs, Geraldine Coffey, Nella Pramberger & Geraldine Smyth; Decorating Chairs, Patricia Colant and Sheila Vestergom; Raffle Chair, Trish Tobin; Volunteer Chair, Dina Rose; Journal Chair, Rosario Baldwin; plus countless Committee Members, who have been toiling back stage, for months, in anticipation of this Opening Night! The Parents Association thanks and salutes you for all of your talents and dedication.
A round of applause goes out to the professionals in the Advancement Office: Samantha Hanley, VP of Advancement and her able staff of Joseph Acciarito, Rose Dugan, Lara Torsky, and Mary Ann Minson. They have provided invaluable expertise, enthusiasm and support behind the scenes of tonight’s production.
Loyola School is concluding another successful academic year under the caring and competent leadership of Loyola School President, Tony Oroszlany; Principal, Kristin Ross; Dean of Academics, Samantha Lehn; and Dean of Students, Kristin Cupillari. We are all reminded that without them the show – academic or otherwise -- cannot go on.
On a somber note, we remember the work and contributions of our friend and colleague, Terry Keenan Kass, who reminds us that for some actors there is no stand-in.
And finally, a standing ovation for the real stars and beneficiaries of tonight’s extravaganza -- our sons and daughters. We’re thankful for the joy they bring to us, the love they have shown to each other, and the promise they hold for the future.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats, turn off all cellular devices (except for bidding) and enjoy the show!
Best wishes for a great evening,

Loyola School Song
Loyola Fair, a song to thee!
For thee our hearts o’erflow
As held in sweetest memory
Our friendships warmer grow.
Though tempests beat about our future course,
And storms beset life’s sea,
We’ll cling to thee, our sure resource,
Loyola Fair, our hearts to thee!
When from thy portals forth we stray
With hearts made strong and free,
The noble, manly part we’ll play
Which we have learned from thee.
What e’er betide we’ll ever loyal stand
And fight to victory
The foes of God and Fatherland
Loyola Fair, our pledge to thee!
