GROUP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

ADOPT-A-FAMILY AT CHRISTMAS: Groups, organizations, schools, small groups and individuals are

needed to sponsor “adopt” a child for Christmas. You will be provided

with information about your child so that you can provide

Christmas gifts for your child.

BIBLE STORY/VBS:

Provide bible study/craft time for children staying in our Emergency Shelter.

This can be a 1 night event or a week long event.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES FOR THE HOMELESS:

Volunteers are needed to organize and host a birthday party for our homeless

friends. These parties give us the opportunity to celebrate everyone's birthday

and let them know that they are special to God and created for a very special

purpose.

HOST A DONATION DRIVE:

Help us provide needed items to those we serve. Pick up a Donation Drive

Packet and sponsor one of the Donation Drives listed in the brochure.

BARBEQUES:

We love to have organizations sponsor a barbeque at any one of our locations.

USE YOUR SPECIALTY:

Everyone has a specialty, so use it to help those in need. Give us a call and

we will find a place where your specialty will fit in.


DONATION CENTER:

Our Donation Center is a great place for groups!!! We have fun while we

sort! Volunteers are needed to sort through household and clothing

donations.

Dear Prospective Volunteer,

Thank you for your interest in joining HALO’s Volunteer Team.

We believe our volunteers are vital partners in ministering to the

homeless and hurting in our community. This is why HALO seeks to

inform and engage committed individuals as well as school groups, civic

groups, corporate groups, church groups, families and individuals in this

life changing endeavor.

It is through volunteering that relationships develop, trust is built and

lives are restored. Serving homeless individuals requires patience, heart

and people skills. Because of this, we do our best to match each

volunteer’s passion, gifts, skills and talents with a serving opportunity

that best fits them!

Within the next few pages, you will see how HALO offers various

volunteer opportunities for everyone. Please review the Individual and

Group Volunteer Opportunities in this Handbook.

Our prayer is that you will receive a true blessing as you serve these

precious men, women and children.

Hope And Life Outreach

Thank you for considering supporting our ministry through volunteering! We have a variety of volunteer opportunities with varying

time commitment options!


PAINTING PROJECTS:

The walls of Center of Hope and HALO Café need to be touched up from

time to time. Bring your brushes, rollers, drop cloths, paint pans, buckets and

tape and help us keep our buildings looking great.

If you are unable to bring these items, please contact HALO

MEAL SERVICE:

Do you like to prepare and serve meals? Come help in our kitchen!

Volunteering in our kitchen is the most popular activity for individuals and

groups.

Groups are welcome to come in and prepare and serve the meal. You will have

a great time as you meet, serve and talk to our guests!

HOUSE MANAGEMENT SERVICES: Help clean our house! This is a great group project! Volunteer groups are

needed to come in and help us clean up our house!

OUTDOOR CLEAN UP: Teams are needed to help clean and maintain the outdoor area around the

HALO Center of Hope; HALO Bargain Center and Administrative office.

This includes picking up and disposing of debris, as well as mowing and

trimming as needed. Planting flowers in season.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: If you a “People Person”? This is the place for you!

Help the Volunteer Coordinator with the scheduling of volunteers in each

ministry area.

HEART-TO-HEART INCENTIVE PROGRAM: We need volunteers to help our Heart-To-Heart Program Coordinator with

the planning and oversight of activities for the adults and children that use

our Day Facility.

MORNING DEVOTIONS: Devotions are held every morning in Day Facility. We need individuals and/or

groups to come in and share the morning devotions with our guests.

Our thrift ministry is a ministry to our customers and volunteers!

HALO Bargain Center is also the main source of income for HALO.

All items in our store have been donated. We need volunteers to help with

retail operations - arranging items in the store and assist customers.

Cashiers are also needed. Must be 16 or older and additional training

required.

Location: Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD

cleaning and upkeep of our Mission. Duties may include: cleaning;

sweeping the front porch; making of beds; laundry.

HALO WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S SHELTER

SHELTER VOLUNTEERS:

Serving our guests living in our shelter is life changing! It requires patience,

And a heart for the hurting.

Volunteers are needed to help with the check-in and registration of guests

entering the Emergency Shelter and to help oversee the bacic flow of

individuals in the shelter.

6:00AM - 7:30AM

6:00PM - 8:00PM

8:00PM - 10:00PM

10:00PM - 7:30AM (overnight)

EVENING CHAPEL:

Devotions are held every night in the shelter. This is the time when

individuals and/or groups can come in and sing praises, give life

testimonies and share God’s word with our guests.

not only “feed the body”, but will have the opportunity to “feed the soul.”
