Millennium Stadium

• It’s a national known stadium.• Used for football, rugby, boxing, ect.• This stadium will be used In the 2012

Olympics for a few football matches.

Pier-head Building

• It’s the building for the “National Assembly For Wales”.

• Referred to as “Baby Big Ben”.• The building consist of a French-Gothic Renaissance theme.

Cardiff Castle• This is what Cardiff is most known for.• This castle is for the medieval time period. • It is from the 19th century.• Its now a popular tourist attraction, hosting

many events.

• This is the leading research school in Catha's Park.

• Came to be in 1881.• Ranked 122 globally.

Coal Exchange

• A live music venue• It is located in Cardiff Bay.• Opened in 1988 & refurbished

and re-opened in 2001. • Capacity of 1,000.

St. Fagan's Castle• Commonly referred to as open-air

museum.• In South Wales• Started in 1946• Much of the Doctor Who episodes "

Human Nature" and "The Family of Blood" were filmed at St Fagan's.

Castle Coch• Or in English “Red castle”.• Designed for the 19th century.• Has a tower appearance.• This castle has made numerous T.V.

appearances.• There are 3 parts to the tower.

St. David's Hall• It is a Performing arts & conference venue.• Its been known to host annual welsh proms.• It was built in 1982.• Its first event held was an orchestra

performance by the “Wales BBC orchestra”.• It is owned & managed by the Cardiff Council.

Taxi Cab• Between 2008 and 2009, taxi usage dropped

from 59.7% to 52.3%.• Even with the drop taxi is still in the most top

10 ways of transportation.• Taxi’s are most commonly used in sports,

media & education.

Suburban Rail• Cardiff has an urban rail metro network

operated by Arriva Trains Wales known as Valley Lines.

• The council is investigating converting the Cardiff City Line, Coryton Line and Butetown Branch Line into light rail lines and extending them in the near future.

BUS• Cardiff has a comprehensive bus network.• The buses in Cardiff are all council owned.• The type of bus line in Cardiff travels

throughout the city as well as the other parts of Wales.

The Aquabus• The Aquabus runs every hour between

the city centre (Taff Mead Embankment) and Cardiff Bay (Mermaid Quay), and between Cardiff Bay and Penarth (Cardiff Bay barrage).

Air• Cardiff, as well as South and West Wales, is

served by Cardiff Airport.• Another air way is Cardiff’s Heliport.• The Heliport is most popular for police

services to transport.• Both the Airport & heliport are located in

Rhoose, a town in Cardiff.

Rail & Light rail• There are plans to open more railway stations

on existing lines in order to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and help reduce city centre congestion.

• Cost are rising.• A new out of town parkway-style station with

3,500 parking spaces has been proposed.
