We got pulled in into the nation’s “Tanfeedh” pro- gram in the last minute. It seems the OPAL name was being touted as a best example of Sector repre- sentation and its duplication in other sectors was thus proffered as a firm proposal. Our role in bring- ing together the sector in building of HSE, Occupational and train- ing standards was recognized as best practice!. On the practical front, work has started in earnest to bring the Seeb VTC to UK regulated standards. If you recall in last month’s news- letter we reported that an agree- ment was reached to utilize the Seeb VTC to run our programs for Welding & Fabrication and Electrical and Mechanical Main- tenance skills. We have engaged with a professional body to work with the centre in enhancing their administrative processes to ob- tain the centre approval. In the meantime, SEMTA, another pro- fessional body is working on the formal assessment and subsequent development of the VTC training staff. During the month, we signed an agreement with OLNG for the funding to train for employment for some of our members 35 Omanis in 2 trades costing OMR 82,660. anks OLNG for the opportunity. On the HSE front, work is on- going to reach consensus on a common road safety standard for the sector. is will encompass agreement to have common vehi- cle inspection standards and RAS Stickers, Defensive Driving train- ing, common consequence man- agement etc., scheduled for com- pletion by the end of the year. e month also saw us participating in the ROP Road Safety Exhibition with an OPAL Booth which was well received. Given recent developments we are in the process of reviewing the CVC process and as such you may be approached for your views in due course and I would appreciate your input in this regards. Please give a thought to your par- ticipation in the 2016 OPAL Best Practices, in the 4 categories “Hu- man Resources Management”, “HSE”, “Operational Excellence” and “Small Business Develop- ment”. Awards will be presented to the Winners in each of these cat- egories. e event is scheduled to take place on 7th December 2016 under the auspices of H.E. Salim Al Aufi, Undersecretary Ministry of Oil and Gas. We have extend- ed the final date of submission to 7th November 2016. We welcome your participation. The delegation was led by Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Hadhrami, Chairman of the OCCI Education Committee, and also included a number of committee members rep- resenting colleges, universities, schools, institutions, owners of educational center, OPAL and other officials. Abdullah Al Sinani, OPAL Human Resources Executive Manager, stated that South Korea is one of the most developed countries in Asia and has assumed an advanced status on education. We have been able through this visit to achieve the desired objectives, namely to see the Korean experience in the field of education and training, the process of linkage between them and how to connect the output in the labor market.

AL-GHALBI HOLDINGS initiated with strategic plan for Hospitality Man-agement and succeeded with a fruitful result by starting with “AL-GHALBI Awaifia PAC” at Awaifia with intention to benefit clients including PDO, Oxy, BP Khazzan, OO-CEP etc. who are having

operations in concession areas and as a part of Business Diversification. Main reasons prompted to initiate this idea are the shortage of PAC in the local-ity the difficulties of local community due to the absence of PAC in nearby localities. AL-GHALBI Awaifia Motel, is around 45 km from Fahud, and the initiative and completion is fully in line with the Government strategies for In Country Value (ICV). It have 31 furnished rooms in two floors, fully furnished 6 VIP Apartments, recreation facilities including gymnasium, play grounds, prayer halls, spacious mess halls, clinic, ambulance services, minimal shop-ping provisions etc. Total area of the camp is more than 8500 SQMTrs and can accommodate up to 120 Guests.
