    INTRODUCTION

    Fast food is one of the worlds largest growing food types. Indias fast food industry

    is growing by 4!. The "ultinational seg"ent of Indian fast food industry is up to Rs

    #.billion$ a figure whi%h is e&pe%ted to 'oo" "ore than Rs.( billion by #). In last

    * years$ foreign in+est"ent in this se%tor stood Rs.(* "illion whi%h is about one,

    fourth of the total in+est"ent "ade in this se%tor. -e%ause of the a+ailability of the

    raw "aterial for fast food$ global %hains are flooding into the %ountry. The per%entage

    share held by foodser+i%e of total %onsu"er e&penditure on food has in%reased +ery

    low base to stand at #.*! in #). ating at ho"e re"ains +ery "u%h ingrained in

    Indian %ulture and %hanges in eating habits are +ery slow "o+ing with barriers to
