• Whites were paid more

• The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

- all must have equal job opportunities

• Walter was a chauffer- complained about it- not the highest pay

• Bennie wanted to be a doctor

- A lot of women didn’t have jobs

- most would just go for nursing

• Black female- fat- pitch black- desexualized

Black children- undesirable-ruffians- street urchins

• Walter- not sexually

menacing- not that violent

• Mama/Ruth/Bennie- not fat- not desexualized

• Travis- not a ruffian- no street urchin

• My family is mostly Italian- we eat a lot of food- everything is always home cooked- my grandparents speak Italian

• April 25 is Festa della Liberazione- celebration of liberation of Italy in WWII- huge dinner

• I’m proud of my culture- I’ve been introduced to a lot of food- I’ve learned a little Italian

• Go to college- I desire an education- easier to get jobs- more respect for myself

• Be a writer- either author or journalist- I’ve always loved writing- one of the few things I’m

good at• Move to Colorado

- breathtakingly beautiful winters

- not too hot, not too cold

MY OWN DREAMS

-becoming a writer is harder than it seems.

- Bennie wanted to be a doctor and everyone said she couldn’t do it.• Dreams take a lot of work to

achieve- study hard in college- a lot of writing- raising money to be able

to move- Bennie was tight on

money and still went to medical school• Sometimes they don’t come true

- being a writer is a long shot

- Walter never achieved his dream of being apart of a liquor store

• Everyone has the right to a happy life• No one should be looked down on due

to:- race, gender, religion, etc.

• All people should be given the same opportunities

• Skin is just a color.
