Our current UOIHow We Organise OurselvesMolly Wed like to extend this knowledge a little and share with you action that is occurring around the world.Mia During our current unit on How we organise ourselves we have been researching organisations that help people in times of need.3Central IdeaPeople help one another in different ways during times of need.

Aidan There are many well know organisations that help people.Angus Some of the better known organisations that help people in times of need are the Red Cross or Red Crescent, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, UNICEF, Oxfam and World Vision.Eshann There are also hundreds of organisations that assist people that are not as well known. Wed like to tell you about a few.4Shelter Box

Ben One of these organisations is Shelter Box from Cornwall in the UK. They are now supported by the Rotary Organisation.Louis They help in disasters by sending large green boxes to disaster areas that cover peoples basic needs of shelter and food.5Mission Australia

Patrick Mission Australia began 150 years ago.Ryan Their vision is to see a better Australia by providing people with a pathway to a better life.6Doctors Without Borders

Hannah Doctors without Borders or Medecins Sans Frontieres was founded in 1971 by a small group of doctors and journalists.Danielle They believe all people should have access to emergency medical relief during conflict. In 1999 they received the Nobel Peace Prize.7Sunrise Childrens Village

Ella S Sunrise Childrens Village began in 1993 when Australian Geraldine Cox began regular monthly donations to feed one child. Ruby The orphanages in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh now care for hundreds of orphaned and disadvantaged children.8Boys Town Singapore

Coby Boys Town Singapore was established in 1948 by a Cathloic Minister and an Australian Philanthropist when they were interned at Changi Prison Camp during the Japanese occupation of Singapore.James Their aim is to provide guidance, shelter, education, vocational training and practical life skills to youth from poor and disadvantaged families.

9tuesdays children

Kyle R tuesdays children was started by families and friends of the victims of 9/11.Jon They bring together children and families who have had their lives altered by acts of terrorism. The charities goal is to assist people to move forward in a positive way with their lives.

10Samaritans Purse

Emma Samaritans Purse has for 40 years been helping the worlds poor, sick and suffering. They assist vulnerable children by providing educational services to improve their life.Natasha During times of war, natural disasters, disease and famine they help people by providing food, water and emergency shelter. 11Invisible ChildrenJason Russell is a man who exemplifies ACTION.

Scarlet I was researching helping people in need and found a non-profit organisation called Invisible Children. This organisation began when an American man named Jason Russell found a major problem occurring in Africa. He decided to try and make a difference. Now a lot of the world know about the situation and are trying to rectify it. 12People of all ages can make a difference

Michelle Winter Vinecki began Team Winter when she was only nine years old, inquire into it if you want to find out more. All it takes is a little idea and anyone can help make the world a better place. You could even make a difference.13
