From the Pastor’s Desk November 2016 Jubilee of Mercy

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

As the Jubilee of Mercy concludes, I invite you to reflect on

opportunities to continue accompanying the poor in our midst, including through the Catholic Campaign for Human

Development (CCHD). For over forty-five years, CCHD has been a living example of our Church’s social teaching, offering a

‘hand-up’ to empower the poor to help themselves improve their lives and the livelihood of their families and others. This year,

CCHD is funding twentyeight organizations that are addressing the roots causes of poverty with seniors, youth, immigrants,

people with disabilities and workers in Cook and Lake Counties.

This year a collaborative effort by several CCHD grantees helped pass the Illinois Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights (HB 1288). This law grants domestic workers – caretakers, housekeepers, those

who clean and do household maintenance – the same legal protections as other workers. This victory directly lifts up the poor.

Please make a special effort during this Thanksgiving season to

give generously to the CCHD Collection the weekend of November 19-20. Your contribution will enable the poor to

achieve greater dignity and all of us to work together to build God’s kingdom of justice.

To learn more about CCHD in the Archdiocese of Chicago,

parish resources, and the groups it funds, please visit www.ChicagoPeaceAndJustice.org/CCHD.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich Archbishop of Chicago

ChicagoPeaceAndJustice.org/CCHD.

Sinceramente suyo en Cristo.

To Teach Who Christ Campaign Listopad 2016 r. Jubileusz Miłosierdzia

Drogie Siostry i drodzy Bracia w Chrystusie,

Choć Jubileusz Miłosierdzia dobiega końca, zapraszam Was do rozważenia możliwości kontynuowania towarzyszenia

Człowieka (Catholic Campaign for Human Development - CCHD).

potrzebnych, by zmieniali oni na lepsze swoje życie, życie swoich rodzin i innych osób.

niepełnosprawnych i ludzi pracy z powiatów Cook i Lake.

Wspólne wysiłki kilku beneficjentów CCHD pomogły, w bieżącym roku, przegłosować ustawę dotyczącą praw Pracowników

Domowych (HB 1288). Prawo to daje pracownikom domowym – opiekunom, gospodyniom, osobom sprzątającym

domy i konserwatorom budynków – taką samą ochronę prawną jak innym pracownikom. To zwycięstwo zdecydowanie dźwiga

ubogich w górę.

Proszę, abyście podczas tegorocznych świąt Dziękczynienia dołożyli szczególnych starań, by złożyć hojną ofiarę na rzecz kolekty CCHD. Odbędzie się ona podczas weekendu 19-20

listopada.

ChicagoPeaceAndJustice.org/CCHD.

Szczerze oddany Wam w Chrystusie,

Biskup Błażej J. Cupich Arcybiskup Chicago

Pray for the Sick of Our Parish

St. Vincent de Paul “Food of the Month Club”

It’s only October, but we’re already planning for and looking forward to our Thanksgiving Distribution of Food to our families. In preparation for this big day,

we are asking for your help with donations of boxes of Macaroni and Cheese and any type of Instant Potatoes,

preferably Mashed or Au Gratin. We cannot accept fresh produce or frozen foods, as we do not have the

proper storage for those types of items.

Your donations can be placed in the box located in the vestibule of the church when you come to Mass, or

they can be taken to the Rectory during normal business hours.

Now is your chance to help another family celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy a delicious family meal. Please contribute whatever you can in the way

of boxes of Macaroni and Cheese and any type of Instant Potatoes, preferably Mashed or Au Gratin.

Thank you in advance for your generosity -- you may think it’s a small gesture on your part, but know that it

means a lot to a needy family.

Penitential ActGreeting

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And with your Spirit

Penitential ActI confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have

greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous

fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
