JMJ
December 31, 2017 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always. A Blessed and Happy New Year!
It is a common saying for people that “good things come in three’s” and well, bad things as well but let me just focus on the positive part. This weekend we have the gift of celebrating three wonderful events: “The Feast of the Holy Family, the Solemnity of our Blessed Mother Mary the Mother of God and the ushering of 2018 – the New Year.
This trifecta of celebration begs us to spend moments of prayer, reflection and contemplation of essential gifts of our lives. These essential gifts are: Family, Motherhood and Time.
We are blessed to be a part of our families – the smallest unit of society and the domestic church as explained by Vatican II. It is where we constantly expect love, care and refuge from the vicissitudes of life and human condition. God our Loving Father Himself entrusted His Son to the care of Mama Mary and St. Joseph – thus the Holy Family. We must make a determined effort to preserve and sanctify the family by striving to engage in our faith and spiritual life especially by coming together on Sunday – the Lord’s Day Celebration.
We by God’s design are born from the wombs of our mothers where for nine months we found security and received what is essential for life. The bond between the mother and he son is one of the strongest in the world. As Mother of our Savior, Blessed Mary’s mandate is to be mother of us all and through her intercession bring us closer to her Son our Lord Jesus. Her Yes – Her Fiat is for all eternity. She
responds on behalf of humanity who long for the coming of the Messiah.
At the cusp of the beginning of the New Year, whom else would we want beside us other than the prefect and model disciple of Christ? She lived and breathed a life of faith, hope and love. We may not know what 2018 brings to our lives but we can be sure that with Mama Mary as inspiration and model – we can be sure we will overcome – because where She is her son Our Lord Jesus is never far behind. God bless and take care. Love and prayers,
Fr.
Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval

SPECIAL COLLECTION—SANTA ROSA FIRES THIS WEEKEND!
Northern California has been affected by wild fires last month. The Diocese of Orange is uniting by doing a special collection to benefit all families affected by this natural disaster. In respect for the Mass and in consideration of the Hospitality Ministers/Ushers so they can fully participate in the consecration, second collection will be done after communion. Please use designated envelopes to place your donation. Thank you for your generosity!
Foreign Currency and Tithing From time to time we receive foreign currency in our Sunday collection. Unfortunately, we are not able to deposit foreign monies with our bank. We dislike to throw away currency just because it is of no use to the parish when we know it has value elsewhere, so we ask you to please refrain from contributing with foreign coin. We appreciate our parishioner’s time, talent, and U.S. treasure!
Financial Statements In an effort to save the cost of postage, end of the year tax statements that are requested will be emailed to you or will be available for pick up in the Reception
Office. This would be a good time to update or add your email contact information. Financial contribution statements for 2017 will be processed only if you have used weekly envelopes. To request a statement, call the office at 949-951-8599 or email [email protected].
PATIO UPDATE Our patio will start moving forward in the next couple of months. We are waiting for approval and our contract to be drawn by the Construction Department at the Diocese in order to proceed with demolition and for construction to begin.
