The objectives of this research

1. To assess the effectiveness of using robots and artificial intelligence as teaching materials.

2. To evaluate the students’ satisfaction after studying in Plastics course which is one of the Chemistry core courses.y

AAfter the analysis and interpretation

of the collected data it turns out thatof the collected data, it turns out that the students are extremely satisfied

ith th i l t ti f b t dwith the implementation of robots and artificial intelligence in Plastics course.

EngagementEngagement

• First I use robots in an activity in which the students can participate like a game where robots carry plates inparticipate like a game where robots carry plates in different colors to the provided area.

. Another teaching material is the machine that can separate plastics from metal junk. Then I give them a h t di h l ti i t t ichance to discuss why plastics are so important in

human’s daily life and what are the pros and cons of using plastics.

• After that, I start teaching them about robots technology. They can enjoy assembling a simple robot and also learnThey can enjoy assembling a simple robot and also learn how it operates mechanically

ExplorationExploration

• I encourage them to explore more about plastics by researching Then together they can discuss andresearching. Then, together they can discuss and choose an appropriate test method to find out more about plastics general properties

ExplanationExplanationExplanationExplanation

The students have to present their work by using Microsoft PowerPoint and discuss the test results with their teacher andPowerPoint and discuss the test results with their teacher and peers. At this point, the students should reach the conclusion about the definition, structure and properties of plastics

ElaborationElaborationElaborationElaboration

They can combine the fundamental knowledge about plastics with the previous lesson about robots design and all the sample robotsthe previous lesson about robots design and all the sample robots to create their own robot for environmental protection

They also have to present their inspiration, the concept, their designThey also have to present their inspiration, the concept, their design ideas and how they apply scientific principles into their working process. I just want my students to enjoy learning about plastics in Chemistry courses. From this activity, instead of just learning by

i i f t th l b l i k l d i lmemorizing facts, they can learn by applying knowledge in class about plastics to analyzing and solving problems found in the process of creating robots

The students can design their robots however they like without any limitations. They can put forward any ideas as longThey can put forward any ideas as long as those ideas are on rational basis or employ some of the scientific knowledge. In order to build the robot for environmental protection, they should be able to explain and solve the problems by using scientific principles and some of the g p psynthesized knowledge or any other relevant experience. When each group presents their project, their peers should participate in discussion, exchanging opinions and evaluation.

Dr. Detchai Duangsang, our principal encourages g g gscience teachers to learn about robots technology so that we can apply the knowledge to our teaching practice for science classes. By using robots and artificial intelligence as teachingrobots and artificial intelligence as teaching materials, I believe that the students will understand that the more you learn, the more they will be prepared for the life in the 21st century. They will be equipped for work, become independent and become a dutiful citizen of the society. Moreover, other teachers in the science department help me tremendously in planningdepartment help me tremendously in planning, designing and adjusting the Chemistry curriculum. Also, the staff from Thai Teachers TV also help in publicizing this teaching practice. I am certain that this project can become an inspiration for other Thai teachers to develop their teaching practice.

After comparing the students’ score gpre and post studying this course by using dependent t-test, the correlation coefficient of 0.1 that is strongly statistically significant suggests the success of this teaching practicesuggests the success of this teaching practice. Moreover, from all of the 48 students in the class, it turns out that they are extremely satisfied with this course and the standard deviation score for students’ satisfaction is 0.59

This teaching practice becomes successful because it encourages the students to be enthusiastic and it makes them feel moreto be enthusiastic and it makes them feel more engaged by using concrete samples to introduce them to the course itself. The students can express their opinions and creativity and exchange them with their peers. Under the teacher’s supervision, they have an opportunity to develop their analytical skills and solve the problems by themselves which will make themproblems by themselves which will make them progress and become more self-independent.
