cover story and interviews///

May 2013 // Vol 2 Issue 1

Please provide a brief of your

organization.

VI.BE.MAC, the leading company in the

industrial sewing machine area, was born

in 1980 as a Singer support center but

since the very beginning, started to pro-

duce machines and accessories under its

own brand.

The company founder, Carlo

Guerreschi, chose for his machines a cer-

tain part of the market, i.e. the denim

jeans market, sensing the potential of this

sector that in the 70’s was under develop-

ment and has boomed today.

The aim of VI.BE.MAC was and still is

precisely this: to create individual pieces

for satisfaction of textile producers'

needs, from the smallest to a bigger com-

pany. Today the aim has been achieved

thanks to production of complex sewing

machines based on the actual technologi-

cal platforms: original, diverse and user-

friendly. During these 30 years, even with

the client needs changed, the company

maintains its values: quality, know-how

and fast and effective service.

VI.BE.MAC's headquarter is in Verona

(Italy), where 45 people are working and

follow the entire production line of the

automatic units by projecting their

design, developing and realising them.

Since when are you doing business in

India? What share/percentage of your

total business is composed of Indian

market?

We are operating in India from last 33

years. After being present and successful

in India for almost 3 decades, we believe

that India was and still continues to be

one of the key markets for us. Talking

about the share of our business in India

with respect to the total business, India

consists of 20 per cent of that share.

How do you take care of sales & service

aspect in India?

We have our Indian office located in

Bangalore which takes care of the pre-

sales as well as the after-sales aspect of our

offerings in association with Turel. We

offer Installation Training, Operational

Training and Onsite Support for our

machines to our customers under the

proper guidance of our team of experts.

Full support is provided by the compa-

ny's team of Customer Services personnel

whose primary function is to provide a

comprehensive advisory service. With a

large market share, we do believe in walk-

ing hand in hand with our customers

once we supply and install the equip-

ments. Further support is provided in the

form of continued technology transfer

through regular updates on equipment

and processing methods, and the compa-

ny is always available to provide assis-

tance, guidance and advice. Our After

Sales Support department with a compe-

tent team of technicians, installers and

spare parts specialists are available to

answer customers’ questions and service

their needs.

What factors/features set you apart from

rest of the companies in market?

We are privileged to be the market lead-

ers and are way ahead of the competition.

The reason is the holistic solution provid-

ed to the customers in terms of not only

the latest technology & innovation, but

also the support provided to them follow-

ing the sales.

What changes have you seen in

the Indian market in past decade? How

has the low cost competitors

affected/impacted India?

As I mentioned earlier as well, India has

always been a great market for us. Over

the period of time, there have been

numerous welcoming changes in the

country’s lifestyle, acceptance to technol-

ogy, number of consumers etc. The pres-

ent generation is well-receptive towards

the latest innovations in the technology

like the people of no other nation. Having

a whopping figure of 1.5 billion con-

sumers and a large portion of them keen

towards latest fashion, the apparel indus-

try in India will remain a very strong part

of the nation’s economy.

Are there any recent technological

developments by your company? May we

request you to share details about the

same?

We have recently launched two new

machines:

• VIBEMAC 4650 EV9: we're really proud

and glad to announce the new born

VIBEMAC 4650 EV9, the next generation

of Automatic Loop Setter.

Better than its predecessor under each

and every aspect. More efficient, touch

screen panel is now even more user-

friendly (the easiest-to-use ever made),

loader system is completely new, new

clamps, new presser foot, and new loop

aligner system, new electronic and new

software fully in-house developed by

Vi.Be.Mac.

Some important aspects of the EV9 are

leading technology providers, i.e. VI.BE.MAC (lock stitch specialists), Yamato Sewing Machine Ltd. (chain stitch specialists), and

Tukatech (Software Specialist) to know about their perspective towards readymade garment sector in India.

The jeans manufacturing production line put on display together by &

was the limelight of the show at InDIGo’13. It was for the first time in the World that any Distributor /

Machine manufacturer had put an actual production line on display manufacturing garments.

‘As in every exhibition we showcase our products with a sample stitch done on a ‘CUT PIECE’ along with the

actual production video, we wanted to ensure that the visitors get a hands-on understanding of our products’,

said the officials from the company.

Earlier just looking at the videos customers would say:

• ‘Eh….. you know this is not possible in India’

• ‘You know we can never replicate this is India’

• ‘The Indian worker mind-set is different’

• ‘The video is made faster’

So we got together to prove the customer that all the videos are 100% original and it really made an impact. In

two days we produced 750 Jeans, using 27 machines and 20 workers (including helpers and line manager) and

this was from cutting to finishing (without washing but with tagging and packing).
