Rockabilly dresses are making a comeback, and to be fair, we’re not in the least bit surprised. It’s such an awesome style that it’s hard not to love it. It’s perfect for the female form, showing us off in all the right places while downplaying our flaws. What more could a girl ask for? Well, apart from bigger boobs and a smaller bottom! But, maybe that’s just me. Anyway, rockabilly dresses help create a fantastic silhouette, so it’s all good.

There are a few things to note about rockabilly dresses:

The fun designIt’s actually difficult to find rockabilly dresses that don’t sport some fun pattern or other. Whether it’s cupcakes, cherries, or flowers, they usually have a fun and extravagant pattern.

It must have been such an amazing thing to enter a 1950s dance hall and see all these wonderful and varied dresses. The silhouetteOo er missus: if you were a bit of a prude, then these dresses were SHOCKING. They showed off the female physique fantastically well. Often, they’d have a sweetheart neckline. This served to both emphasise the roundness of the bosom and to draw the eyes towards the plunging cleavage.

Goodness me, it wasn’t a style that people were used to, and to say that some of the older generation were shocked was an understatement. Still, there’s no denying it: they flatter your shape very well.

Nowadays, rather than viewing the style as over-the-top or garish, we would say that they are flattering. In some circles, they’re even considered reserved and demure! How time changes everything!

Of course, there were also more modest choices amongst the rockabilly clothing range. You could buy dresses with higher necklines and long sleeves. This went a long way in placating the older generation, and the slimness of the waist still managed to convey a beautiful feminine physique, so it was a win-win for everyone.
