Th e CAST & CREW

SEUSSICAL is now one of the most-performed shows in America! In this fantastical, magi-

cal, musical extravaganza, Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly

brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The

Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo.

The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the

invisible world of the Whos.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust con-

taining Whos, including Jojo, a Who child who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks."

Horton faces a double challenge--not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysay-

ers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible

Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the fearless

Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, fam-

ily, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

I am so excited to be part of the Marist Theatre program directing Seussical the Musical Jr.

this year. This show could not have happened without the unending effort of our producer

Jama Lintol, our set designers Nancy Uchno & Julie Shick, our student co-directors - Anne

Oxendine & Briana Badamo, our choreographers Maria Pangori & Donna Pieper, all the parent

volunteers, our cast & crew, and of course You. It is such a blessing to work with such a tal-

ented group of students and parents. They were able to accomplish so much in just a few

months, and you will see the unique talents, which each and every student brings to the show.

I could not have asked for a better group of kids. I have learned so much from these stu-

dents, and look forward to working with them in the future. I hope you enjoy the show as

much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.

Nolan Weimer has been in two plays at the mini Marist which were, The

Mysterious Case of the Missing Ring and The Monster in my Closet. One

of his hobbies is playing video games along with reading. He also likes to

collect coins. Nolan's been lacrosse since he was in kindergarten. He has

a brother and a mom and dad. He wants to give a special thanks to Mom

for encouraging him to do the play.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Book: A Wocket in My Pocket - I like it because it is

so random and everything rhymes.

Matthew Wood has been in 3 other plays, (Stories Under the Big Top, The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ring, and Monster in the Closet)

and Matt loves to act, play the guitar, sing, and hang out with his

friends. He has been acting for about 4 years and loves it. He loves to

be on stage; because that is away that he can express himself. When he

is not on stage he is at with his parents at home playing the Wii, going

outside, and playing the guitar. His favorite sport is Baseball. Matt

would like to thank all of his past Drama instructors who let him become

the actor he is today. Matt’s favorite thing about Drama is that he can

be himself around people that love the same thing as him.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Book: The Cat in the Hat - I like it because he

turned a really boring day into a super fun day.

Maria Pangori is a senior at Notre Dame Prep. She is a Drum Major for

the NDP Marching Band and is in the NDP Jazz Band. Out of school she

has been on a dance team since 6th grade at Mt. Zion School of Per-

forming Arts. Music and dance is a big part of her love and her hobbies.

She is also a teacher assistant at M.Z.S.P.A. teaching 5-6 year olds.

This will be the 6th Musical at Marist Academy that Maria has choreo-

graphed including, The Royal Bachelor, Mirror Image, Nottingham, Night at the Wax Museum, School House Rocks, Jr. and Seussical, Jr.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: "A person's a person, no matter how small."

This quote is my favorite because every creature created on Earth has

a meaning.

Briana Badamo a junior at NDP, has performed in numerous high school

productions including as Narrator 1 in The Brothers Grimm Spectacu-lathon, as a Starlet in Grease, and as Ruth Devereaux in Thoroughly Modern Millie. She is V.P. of NDP’s Improv Club, and a member of the

Honors Chamber Choir. In her (very limited) spare time, she enjoys

playing the piano, jamming out to Coldplay, spending time with her cous-

ins, and playing The Legend of Zelda.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Be who you are and say what you feel be-

cause those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

Anne Oxendine is a high school student at Notre Dame Prep.

SEUSSICAL JR. A part of

The Broadway Junior CollectionTM

Book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty

Music by Stephen Flaherty

Lyrics by Lynn Aherns

Co-Conceived by Lynn Aherns

Based on the works of Dr. Seuss

Marshall Weimer does many things. He plays lacrosse, and is in Science

Olympiad. Every Tuesday, he goes and learns nanotechnology from a

doctoral student at MSU. Marshall also enjoys playing games; video or

board, painting miniatures, and drawing graffiti in his notebook. This is

Marshall's 3rd and final play at Marist Academy. He was Blackbeard in

6th grade in the production of A Night at the Wax Museum, and played

a solo on his saxophone in 7th grade in the production of the musi-

cal School House Rock, Jr.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: "Be who you are and say what you feel, be-

cause those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t

mind." This stands for much of what of I do, and many things I do are

influenced by this quote.

Marshall is the only member of the Cast & Crew who has partici-pated all 3 of his years at NDMA.

Charles Johnson is new to Marist Academy and fairly new to acting

but he loves it and has been in several shows in the last year. The shows

include Winnie the Pooh, he was Tigger; Mulan, he was Mushu/FaZhou

and Fiddler on the Roof where he was Mendel. He was recently in the

Starlight Theater production of Seussical as a Wickersham Brother and

now he is reinventing it for our stage. Coming this February

to Starlight Theater he will be Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty.

Lexi Barker

Anna Chick is a new student at Marist Academy. She was in the St.

Joseph production of Alice in Wonderland. She loves to sing, dance. In

addition to that she likes draw, ski, and play volleyball. Anna is the Stu-

dent Council Secretary. She is also in Environmental Club, and will be in

the skiing club at Marist. Anna has one sister named Sarah, who is a

freshman at Notre Dame Prep. She loves to spend time with her family

and friends. Anna is very thankful to be in this production. She loves all

the wacky music, cool sets, and the great cast members. She would like

to thank her Mom and Dad, for making time to pick her up, and take her

home from practices. Anna also thanks them for letting her be in this

production. She would like to thank all the very kind cast members for

helping her out when she didn’t understand something.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “A Person is a person no matter how small.” I

like this one because people make fun of others because of how tall they

are. People are being called shrimp or midget. This is telling people that

if someone is short that doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings.

Rachel Kloss likes to act, swim, and play softball. She is interested in

continuing with the Marist plays and hopes to go on to the high school

plays. She would like to give a shout out to her big sister Sabrina, who

is the person who convinced her to join the play and to her wonderful

parents who are always there for her.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “A person’s a person no matter how small.”

It's my favorite because it reminds me to always be nice to everyone,

no matter how different they are.

Natalie Lyijynen is participating in her first play and hopes to be in

many more. She enjoys skiing, singing, acting, volleyball, and especially,

spending time with friends. She has an older sister, Ali, and a younger

brother, Josh. She also has a dog, Lucky, and a cat, Sammy. Her favor-

ite color is blue and she loves math and science. She would like to give a

special thanks to her family and closest friends for supporting every-

thing she does and letting her be in this wonderful production.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it

happened.”

Erin Patterson is not new to the stage but she is new to the Marist

stage. She has been in a play every year since kindergarten and last

year she got the female lead in Jonahs Druthers along with Ethan

Carino. Erin likes to play soccer, the violin, ski and snowboard. Erin

would like to thank her parents for sending her to Marist to be a part

of this great experience.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Book: Green Eggs & Ham - I like this book because I

remember it being my favorite book when I was little and I love rhymes!

Ethan Sivasubramanian is participating in his first year and first per-

formance at NDPMA. He loves his school, his teachers and his friends.

Ethan enjoys music, drama, arts, robotics and sports. He takes joy in

playing the Guitar and the Drums. He would like to thank Mr. Elli Ep-

stein (His Guitar instructor) for teaching him play the guitar and his

wonderful dad for teaching him play the drums.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: ”A person's a person, no matter how small.”

I like it because one should respect a person because of who they are in

their heart and not because of how they might appear.

Luke Spray is helping out with his first performance and his first time

on the stage crew and he has enjoyed it. Luke enjoys swimming , playing

basketball, painting, and building.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Book: The Cat in the Hat - It is my favorite because

it is the first Dr. Seuss book I have ever read and was always my favor-

W h o ’ s W h o i n t h e C a s t & C r e w

one at Marist. He is excited to be one of the main characters in Seussi-

cal Jr. He lives to be onstage and loves to perform. Ethan has a pas-

sion for public speaking, Karate, and ethnic foods. He would like to

thank his mom and dad for supporting him, the cast members, the direc-

tors, relatives, his friends, and most important, God.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “A person’s a person no matter how small.” I

choose this quotation because no matter how small or insignificant you

appear to be, you are still special and important to God.

Kevin Cragg had his first experience in drama 2 years ago at Notre

Dame Marist Academy as a back stage and set crew member. The char-

acters were so good that he decided to try out as a cast member the

following year. He was one of the leading roles as Murray the monster in

A Monster in The Closet. It was an awesome experience that he shall

never forget! This year he plans to have FUN, being one of the monkeys

on the bongo drums! He would like to give a special thank you to Mrs.

Lintol and Mr. Ross for helping all of the children to make special memo-

ries. Thank you to all the volunteer parents who make this event happen

and an “I LOVE YOU” to his parents who are always there for him in

whatever he does!

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Look at me! Look at me! Look at me NOW!

It is fun to have fun, But you have to know how!” This quote is impor-

tant because I love to have fun, without any cares as to what people

think of me. Remember…there is a time and a place to have fun but, you

need to be respectful for things and those who are around.

Jamie Finn has been dancing since the age of three and started com-

petitive dance at the young age of five. She has traveled across the

country competing in places such as Florida, South Carolina, and Las

Vegas. This is Jamie’s first theatrical performance and she is excited to

expand her performing art capabilities. Jamie would like to thank the

cast and directors for this opportunity, and her mom and dad for all of

their support!

Favorite Dr. Seuss Book: The Cat and the Hat - It's my favorite be-

cause it’s funny and I always enjoyed it as a child.

Juliet Jacoby started at Marist Academy as pre-Kindergartener. She

attended Marist Academy in Waterford through 5th grade. While

there she performed in multiple school productions, including Stories

Under the Big Top, Mystery of the Missing Ring and Monster in the

Closet. Juliet has a sister and a pet rabbit named Buddy. She loves to

wakeboard, snow board and play team sports such as volleyball and soft-

ball.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it

happened” I love this quote because it makes all experiences sound

worthwhile.

Patrick Convery has quite a bit of experience in the spotlight. He was

the lead as Captain Shang in his fifth grade play Mulan. Patrick also took

the spotlight as George, who was "just a bill on capitol hill" and sang

“Three is a Magic Number” in School House Rock Live, Jr.

Once again he joins the fray and delivers beautiful acting, singing, danc-

ing, and a great sense of humor to the show, Seussical!!!

Audrey Damman has been in two plays so far and hopes to be in more.

Audrey loves to play volleyball, act, and be with friends. Her favorite

color is pink. She also likes to dance and do gymnastics. Audrey is funny

and loves to make people laugh. She would like to thank all of her

friends who have made play so fun and the moms who worked to make

this play possible. Audrey loves Union macaroni and her mom’s pancakes.

Audrey’s favorite shape is a circle and her favorite subject is science.

likes to go tubing and surfing. In the winter she likes to ski. Audrey

hope to act or work with animals when she gets older. She hopes to get

all A’s and someday marry Justin Bieber.

because who doesn’t love elephants?

Kacey Edmonds is performing for the first time in a play/musical and

she is so excited. Kacey loves playing soccer, softball, basketball, tennis,

is Nathan and her moms name is Sandra. Her parents have always been

her rock and they have been the best support system. Kacey also have a

little brother Josh who is the best brother in the whole world. She

would like to thank her parents, friends, and family for supporting her

from the start. She would also like to express special thanks to her

little brother Josh. He has always been there for her and even though

they fight, they always have each other’s back.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Today you are you that is truer than true.

There is no one alive who is yourer then you.” This is my favorite quote

because, it says you are you and you don’t have to be anybody else but

you.

Chloe Fazzini loves to act, sing, dance, and have fun with her friends.

She was in Marist Academy’s previous show, School House Rock Live Jr.,

as Dina. She is a competitive dancer at OADPA in Oxford, and she has

been dancing for seven years there. Some of her favorite things to do

are sing along to the radio and play video games with her brother. She

really wants to thank her parents for never giving up on her and for

always encouraging her to try her best.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Being crazy isn’t enough” This is my favorite

quote because I am crazy, and I like to be crazy with my friends, but I

just think that when you are acting, that you need to throw yourself out

there and not be yourself that night, but to be your character.

W h o ’ s W h o i n t h e C a s t & C r e w

Emma Fredin loves to act, dance, and sing. Emma has been in more than

7 productions and enjoys it a lot. Emma has three sisters who are all

into music, acting, singing, and dance. In her free time Emma likes to

hang out with her friends, goof around, and play sports. Emma loves to

be around her sisters. She started acting and singing because her sec-

ond oldest sister, Erinn, inspired her to. Emma was the baby billy goat in

the production of Stories Under the Big Top at the lower division. The

next year Emma was the maid in the play The Case of the Missing Ring.

Later that year Emma was a village child in the high schools musical

Beauty and the Beast. She would like to thank her family for always

supporting her. Emma would also like to thank her sisters for their

impact on her life.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Be who you are and say what you feel, be-

cause those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” I

picked this quote because its very true. If someone doesn't like who you

are then you shouldn’t care about them. You should like the people

around you that like you for who you are, and no one else.

Kara Giraud

Morgan Holycross is participating in her first year of drama club. She

loves playing sports such as volleyball, swimming, snowboarding, and snow

skiing. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her friends. Morgan

instructor, Mrs. Rodden, who she wouldn’t have

gotten anywhere without, and her family and friends.

Tessa Woryk has always loved to perform. In mini Marist, she was in

two productions; Stories Under the Big Top, and The Case of the Miss-

ing Ring. She had an individual part in each one and loved being a part of

both plays. She loves getting a chance to express herself through song,

dance, and dialogue. Tessa enjoys participating in school musicals be-

cause it gives her a chance to do something that she loves, singing and

acting, with her friends. Tessa also enjoys doing extra-curricular activi-

ties like cheerleading, skiing, and gymnastics. Tessa would like to give a

special thanks to her mom, dad, brother and sister for always being

there for her and pushing her to do her best in everything she does.

Tessa has had so much fun working with everyone in the cast and crew in

this production and hopes to see them all participating in next year’s

show!

Favorite Dr. Seuss Book: Green Eggs and Ham - I always loved this book

because it was a simple enough book to read when I was young, but it

still entertains me and gives me a laugh today.

Mary Yanik has been performing for two years in Marist Productions.

Last year, in School House Rock Live Jr., she was in the chorus and a

part of the comet team. Mary enjoys singing, dancing, acting, and just

goofing of with her family and friends. She loves to play many sports

including softball, basketball, soccer, and bowling, though she can always

fit time in her schedule to hang out with her friends and family. Her

goal next year is to get a lead role in the play so she can perform in

front of the people she loves. She would like to thank her parents, her

grandparents, and her two brothers, Ryan and Tyler, for encouraging

her to do her best and to not be afraid to do what she loves. She is so

exited to be apart of this wonderful performance and she hopes that

you will enjoy the show!

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: “Why fit in when you were born to stand

out?” This really can relate to many people, including myself. If people

were born to fit in, the world would be a very boring place.

Sara Ross Avery has previously performed in the Wizard of Oz, Annie, Bye Bye Birdie and Hello Dolly. Regional credits include Dracula: A Rock Opera and Something Wicked This Way Comes at Meadow Brook Thea-

tre. She participates in musical theatre with the Peanut Gallery Players

and studies voice with Ms. Stacy Cleaveland. Sara would like to thank

Josh, Maria, Brianna, Anne and Ms. Jama for all their hard work on

Seussical!

Favorite Dr. Seuss Quote: "Be who you are and say what you feel, be-

cause those who mind don't matter and those who matter

don't mind." Its my favorite quote because it tells people that

just because someone might not like you because your different,

it doesn't matter and neither do they.
