The invention of Instagram has connected  our society and has become a medium of expression.

But how is it affecting our

YOUTH ?

Parents need to be aware of the dangers on Instagram …

IF they suspect their kids, pre-teens, or teens, are sharing images online.

Teens and pre- teens are constantly giving away their personal info.

Profile section on Instagram makes your child vulnerable to listing their,

first and last name, birthday, gender, phone number, and email @ddress.

A majority of teens (58%) don’t think posting photos or other personal info on social networking sites is unsafe.

GEO Tagging allow users to TRACK children’s locations when posting.

Strangers are able to track down the exact location of children

who may be too young to defend themselves.

Identity Theft can occur as teens pose as other teens.

Children are able to follow strangers under the

“Popular” section.

69% of teens regularly receive personal messages online from people they

DO NOT KNOW.

This exposes children to interaction with possibly threatening individuals.

NUDITY Is also a problem with teens using Instagram.

Teens are exposed to EXPLICIT photos and are peer pressured to display their OWN.

Online competitions such as rating girls over Instagram STRENHEN insecurities of the adolescent

So how can we prevent the dangers out in the Instagram World?

Parents should connect with their children on instagram and give advice on what to post.

Teaching children at a young age about the dangers of social media is KEY to ensure safety.

In a safe environment, Instagram can continue to do what is does best.
