It is with great pleasure that we present the 19th annual sculpture exhibit, Horsin’ Around Stamford Downtown. The exhibit includes a collection of 40 life-sized fiberglass horses created by 29 artists. These handsome equines will be on display throughout the downtown and at the Stamford Town Center from June through August.

Upon conclusion of Horsin’ Around Stamford Downtown, the horses will be refurbished and readied for public auction; a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Ferguson Library. Prior auctions held for CowParade 2000, Art-O-Mobiles 2001, Stamford Safari 2003 and It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs 2010 raised a combined total of over $400,000 for area charities.

This commemorative catalogue is a tribute to an extraordinary collaborative process among Stamford Downtown, the City, the corporate community and art aficionados. Art in Public Places, currently in its 19th year, is one of the City’s premier cultural events taking place throughout the Downtown and the Stamford Town Center. Since its inception, Art in Public Places has grown in size and prominence, providing major works of outdoor sculpture for all to enjoy.

This year’s exhibit Horsin’ Around Stamford Downtown, presented by Stamford Downtown, features 40 originally designed and painted fiberglass horses on display on the streets and parks of Stamford Downtown. It demonstrates the extraordinary commitment to art that is part of the Stamford culture. Thanks to the talent of 35 artists who have magically transformed white fiberglass horses into works of art full of creativity and humor and the generosity of patrons of the arts such as gold sponsors Bar Rosso, First County Bank, Malkin Properties, SAC Capital Advisors, L.P., Seaboard Properties, Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa and numerous other bronze and silver sponsors, this annual public art exhibit will delight Stamfordites and visitors throughout the summer.

This is an event you won’t want to miss. Take some time out to enjoy the City and see the sculptures in Stamford Downtown. The exhibit will be on display from June through the end of August.
