• There are Expectations that include:• Do all evaluation in a timely manner

• Engage students in the process

• Use the opportunity for building relationships, learning, and improving work

• Is not a punitive tool…think development

Important Evaluation Tips• Supervisors should check to ensure their name has been

inserted into the Labor Status forms correctly• If students stay in the position but work with a different

supervisor the next term, notification of that supervisor change should be given to Student Payroll

• Use the Supervisor Correction Form each term to do this.• Communicate any adjustments needed as soon as possible

• Do the evaluation early enough to ensure time to discuss the results with students

• The evaluation begins with an email notification sent out through Online Course Survey (SmartEvals)

To login to the evaluation website click the

following link:

https://webapps.berea.edu/laborprogramoffice/studentlaboreval/test_evalu

Your username in the system is your Berea

username

Your password is your Berea Password

Remember to clear your spam filters

to allow these emails to be sent to

you.

•Before proceeding, make sure you select the proper statement identifying the type of evaluation you are currently conducting.

•Read them if this is your first time in the system

•Score from a sliding scale (some are weighted)

•Enter supporting comments and proceed to next area

•To prevent “over scoring” the evaluation will specifically ask for comments and an explanation when rating a student on the extreme ends of the scale.

90 -100 Exceptional Performance

80-89 Exceeds Expectations

70-79 ** Meets Expectations

60-69 Needs Improvement

59-below Unsatisfactory Performance

** Meets Expectations should be considered doing a good job. The score range (70-79) rates performance at expected levels with evaluation scale examples indicating a suggested point range for meeting those expectations. Exceeding Expectations and Exceptional Performance ratings should be reserved for students who go beyond basic expectations for the position. Supervisors should share explanations in the comments box when rating above/below the suggested range for meeting expectations.

ALSO, a student can be placed on labor probation for receiving a score of 59 or below.

Labor Transcript

• The Labor Transcript is a detailed report of each student’s work history and performance

• Performance information is pulled directly from the Labor Evaluation

• Useful for showing a work progression or field of work

• Allows for a better articulation of the resume

• A place to document Labor distinctions, awards, etc.

• Should be completed at the end of labor contracts and are required of all returning students
