•What are Talented Young People doing? Racing!•When are they doing it?All year round!!•What are the demands of the events?
“...intense, changes of pace...”“...dodgy, scary, random...” Highly skilled
Fast
We therefore need to develop highly skilled, fast, tactically aware, brave, hard-working bike riders

Planning and Prescribing Training
What does an ‘average’ week look like?
•Longer/Endurance rides•Roller sessions•Turbo sessions•Short Intense sessions with Race orientation•Skills sessions•Racing
•“Periodised weeks”Based on the same principles we would apply to senior riders
Planning and Prescribing Training
Under 12’s
•One or two club sessions per week
•Plus another bike ride, if they want to
(maybe with family or friends/when the weather is
good)
•A race most weeks
•Riding the bike when they want to
Under 14’s
•A couple of club sessions (if available)
•A club run or group ride
•A race or two every week (developing as they grow)
•Second year starts to need to train – maybe for six months
(having a loop, getting on the turbo once or twice per week,
getting out when they don’t always want to)
Under 16’s
•7 - 9 hour per week
•5 – 8 races per month
•A mix of club sessions, group rides/club runs, solo training
loops, turbo and rollers
•Volume in the school holidays
•Second year would start to ride to races, etc
