from the roots of the stump of Jesse, Davids father. However after the exile, Judah had no ruling king of

    Righteous Judge (Isa. 11:3-5)

3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of

the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,

neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and

reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall

smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the

breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and

faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

    Studying Isa. 11:1-9

God promised that a green sprout would come forth from

the roots of the stump of Jesse, Davids father (Isa. 11:1).He would be endowed with the Spirit of the Lord and with

all the qualities of that Spirit (v2). He would become a

righteous Judge, who provides justice and deliverance for

the poor and who condemns the wicked by His righteous

word (vv. 3-5). His reign of peace will mean that nature will

be remade and the whole earth will be filled with the

    knowledge of God (vv. 6-9)

the good news; but they also became the

    Main Idea

The Old testament predicts the birth of

Jesus as described in the New testament.

The promise of God during Isaiahs time

was crucial since everything appeared to

be hopeless. At that moment, God

reminded His people that He had not

    forgotten them.

There is hope for all people in Jesus Christ.
