PLANNING THE WEDDIDNG: Weddings are usually planned a year before as there are

no free ballrooms as well as restaurants. Most couples get married in a month with a letter „r” like

Marzec- March. It is said that the couple will lead a good, happy life.

Saturday is a day for a wedding and a reception lasts for one or two days, although in the countryside it can be even three days long

About three months before the wedding the bride chooses her wedding dress and other accessories.,

Before the couple goes to church, their parents give them a blessing. Only the bride and the groom together with bestman and bridesmaid go to the altar- no bridesmaids, no father.

The mass is about 45 minutes long. After the ceremony, in front of the church people pay wishes, give presents and money

to the newly married. But it’s not so easy to get to church, you may have some problems.People can stop the couple’s car on their way to church. They let the couple go when

they are given some alcohol or sweets. Here you can watch how it looks like.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kyoS3QUnG8

THE RECEPTION- more traditions When the couple enters the reception

room they are welcomed with bread and salt, next the guests pay a toast for the couple and the couple throws glasses behind them for luck.

The couple opens the reception with the first dance.

At midnight there is a ceremonial putting on of a cap by the bride at the wedding. It’s called „ Oczepiny”

Later on, the bride and the groom thank their parents for bringing them up and for organising the ceremony.
