Cynthia Matthews is an American nationally recognized photographer

whose work has been widely published in books and periodicals,

exhibited in group and solo shows and acquired by corporations,

museums and private collectors. Some decades after this article, Mrs.

Cynthia Matthews still owns and drives her Alfa Romeo Duetto;

whenever she gets into it, she’s amazed at the simplicity of the

dashboard controls: all toggle switches. And such fun to drive! Even

after this long time, everything still works fine! Ciao Cynthia!

Please note these two snapshots. Right side: the Alfa Romeo US inc. new branch, located in Sylvan Avenue 250,

Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, officially launched in 1969 and managed by the CEO Mr. Aldo Bozzi. Here the

structure is depicted during the visit of a group of Italian top dealers, accompanied by the Alfa Romeo General

Manager Enrico Sala (another Alfa Romeo direct showroom was located in Johnson Avenue, Newark, N.J.). Left

side: the current Ferrari North America headquarter, located exactly in the same building used 46 years before by

Alfa Romeo (please have a look to Google street view!), even the neon signs remained the same…

now (2015) then (1974)

Right side: 1974, the pre-launch of the new Alfetta Sport Sedan in the Alfa Romeo showroom of Englewood Cliffs,

N.J. Left side: a new Ferrari in exposition inside the same showroom many and many tens of years later. Now this

building is the Ferrari North America headquarter. Please, note in the background of these two cars - outside the

windows - the unchanged panorama view. Also the inner landscape of the showroom is unchanged: after 46 years

(the opening ceremony of the Alfa Romeo branch in Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, has been in 1969) the new

owners were able to change only the tiles of the flooring of this building conceived, built and used by Alfa Romeo

46 years in advance!

Left side: same day of the previous photographs, in the showroom at Englewood Cliffs, the pre-launch of the new

Alfetta GT, with meny guests ad the group of the italian dealers. Right side: 1) Mr. Enrico Sala (from right to left),

General Manger of Alfa Romeo at that times; 2) the legendary Luigi Bonfanti (Alfa dealer and founder of the famous

Alfa Romeo Bonfanti private Museum); 3) Mr. Luigi Moretti (at that time Alfa dealer, now President and Managing

Director of Benelli Armi in Urbino, and member of the board of director of Beretta Armi); 4) Mr. Federico Moroni

(secretary of the AICAR dealers association). Wow! This US branch was managed by the CEO Mr. Aldo Bozzi

then (1974)
