specifies the procedural safeguards in cases of children in conflict with law. The Act further

seeks to address the children in the 16 to 18 age group, in conflict with law, as an increased

incidence of crimes committed by them that have been reported over the past 5 years. The

POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012) defines to protect the children

against offences like sexual abuse, harassment and pornography. It was formed to provide a

child-friendly system for trail underneath which the perpetrators could be punished. The Act

also defines a child as any person below 18 year of age. It further makes provision for avoiding
