This May Fiji Airways announced some exciting fleet updates, as they?d be acquiring two Airbus A350s as of later this year.
Fiji Airways was able to get these planes on fairly short notice because they were initially supposed to go to Hong Kong Airlines, but they gave up their orders, meaning Fiji Airways could take over those delivery slots. The plan is for both planes to join Fiji Airways? fleet in the coming months.
Fij i Airways? New A350 Business Class
We?ve known that Fiji Airways will be installing reverse herringbone ?Super Diamond? seats on their A350s, though up until now there haven?t been any pictures. Well, Fiji Airways has now finally shared pictures of their new business class seats.
That cabin sure looks? creamy? I guess I kind of like it, but also wonder how well these seats will age, since all scratches will be easily visible with the colors they chose.
On the plus side, these are all around great seats, that are fully flat and feature direct aisle access. This is a massive improvement over their A330 business class, which features angled seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.
What Rout es Will Fij i Airways? A350 Fly?
In May Fiji Airways announced the routes on which they?d operate the A350. However, the airline has
since adjusted their planned schedule a bit.
As of December 1, 2019, Fiji Airways will operate the A350 daily between Nadi and Sydney, on the following frequency:
FJ911 Nadi to Sydney departing 9:35AM arriving 12:05PM
FJ910 Sydney to Nadi departing 1:20PM arriving 7:05PM
Then as of December 22, 2019, Fiji Airways will progressively start to operate the A350 between Nadi and Los Angeles, on the following frequency:
FJ810 Nadi to Los Angeles departing 9:40PM arriving 11:25AM
FJ811 Los Angeles to Nadi departing 9:30PM arriving 6:00AM (+2 days)
As of January 17, 2020, the LAX flight will be operated by an A350 6x weekly.

Fiji Airways? new A350 business class represents a huge improvement over their old product, and I can?t wait to fly it. Fiji is beautiful, and on top of that this can be a great option for traveling between the US and Australia/New Zealand.
I still can?t fully wrap my head around Fiji Airways? recent business class meal service changes, though?

Over 22 suppliers and 400 frontline travel agents participated in Tourism Fiji?s annual Mainstream Roadshow which was held in four significant metro cities in Australia last week from 7?10 October.
The roadshow began in Melbourne and covered Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane and was a great way to keep Australian agents informed on all the latest that Fiji?s tourism has to offer.
This year, travel agents who attended the roadshow were asked to download an App and learn about Fiji and its amazing tourism products in a fun and engaging way.
Tourism Fiji also took part in the Queensland Brides, Wedding and Honeymoon Expo held last week from 11th ? 13th at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The three-day event had everything on wedding and honeymoons from over 130 exhibitors.
Tourism Fiji?s Trade Partnerships Manager for Australia, Mr. Jason Sacriz said, ?As the destination?s largest tourism source market, Australia plays a key role in driving Fiji?s overall arrivals. Educating our valuable travel agents on Fiji?s many products and experiences is key in ensuring they have the confidence in selling the destination to their clients. Attending consumer events like wedding shows are also vital in growing tourism for Fiji especially from the lucrative wedding and honeymoon markets.?
At the expo, Tourism Fiji shared a stand with a number of partners to promote Fiji as a wedding and honeymoon destination. Some of the partners who participated include Outrigger Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Musket Cove Island Resort Fiji, Shangri-La?s Fijian Resort & Spa Yanuca Island, The Pearl South Pacific Resort and Warwick Fiji Resort & Spa.

Fiji had a strong presence at several trade partner consumer expos in New Zealand over the last two months, attending the Flight Centre Expo in Auckland and the House of Travel Bazaars in Waikato, Christchurch and Bay of Plenty.
The Flight Centre Expo in Auckland is New Zealand?s largest and most comprehensive travel show that allows exhibitors to showcase destinations, attractions, activities, products and services from around the world. The most recent one on the 21-22 September 2019 had over 1,700 New Zealanders book Fiji experiences with Flight Centre.
Tourism Fiji attended the Flight Centre Expo with five Fijian industry partners ? Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa, The Naviti Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort/Castaway Island Resort, South Sea Cruises and Warwick Fiji ? and collectively promoted Fiji to over 9,000 New Zealanders in attendance.
Simultaneously, five additional Fijian industry partners represented Fiji at the House of Travel Bazaar in Christchurch. They included Treasure Island Resort, Captain Cook Cruises, Plantation
Island Resort, Blue Lagoon Cruises and Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort/Castaway Island.
Two weeks later, Tourism Fiji travelled to the Bay of Islands with South Sea Cruises and Captain Cook Cruise representors for the House of Travel Bazaar in the Bay of Plenty on the 5 October 2019.
Both House of Travel Bazaars were deemed a success, with Kiwis in attendance predominately booking their Fiji holidays for next June 2020, with an equal split across the Coral Coast, Mamanuca Islands and Nadi regions.

A 13 hour non-stop music and performing arts marathon brought to you by co-hosts, The Uprising Beach Resort and Knox Entertainment PTE Ltd. This event, now in its eleventh (11) year, has gained both local and international thrust. Held in November, to coincide with the Festival of Lights (Diwali), VONU Paradise Beverages among other reputable donors, have come on board once again in partnership with the Uprising Beach Resort and Knox Entertainment PTE Ltd, to show off over 100 musicians and professional dancers in the captivating surrounds of The Uprising Beach Resort, situated on the Pacific Coast, Pacific Harbour, Fiji.
A combination of factors such as the music, performers, location, weather, objectives and content of this great event is a huge draw card, for both locals and international visitors. The festival will be well attended and received by all stakeholders i.e. sponsors, performers, vendors, patrons and hosts, alike. The atmosphere this annual event creates is second to none!
The show kicks off at 12 noon with the introduction of day-time bands presenting a more laid back atmosphere with reggae and hip hop, jazz and blues routines, and avant garde repertoire among others.
The array of performers in the mix are hand selected;
some have performed at the International Jazz & Blues Festival at Port Denarau and other regional and international stages. The range and variety of genre on offer includes reggae, hip hop, modern jazz, soft country rock, funk, rhythm & blues, acoustic styles and twists of RnB.
Intermittently, between bands, the dance troupes will exhibit movements, fusing elements of our Pacific Islands with contemporary styles of the region. The dance groups that will be featured have taken their acts internationally and have gained popularity abroad.
The day-time bracket of the Festival is also packed with kids activities that the litt le ones can enjoy so the whole family can come out and have fun times by the beach. The ?lights? feature of the event occurs around 9pm and 12 midnight, exhibiting spectacular fireworks on the resort?s beachfront. Bonfires, flaming along the shoreline, will also be a significant element of the ?lights? concept.
Our aims and objectives of the festival are multi faceted; where our ultimate plan is to market this event globally, show casing Fiji, involving the people of our country, and visitors alike.

Trekk ing & Visit s t o Nat ional Her it age Parks
Whether you?re trekking through tall grass, swimming in the rivers, or scrambling up a hillside, you don?t need to worry about anything dangerous lurking out of sight. Fiji doesn?t have poisonous snakes or spiders, or crocs in the rivers, or anything to worry about too much. There are have pesky mosquitoes on occasion (but no malaria), but they?re not as voracious as the sand flies our friends in New Zealand enjoy!
What Fiji does have as an isolated island group is some unique flora and fauna that can be hard to spot, but that you can?t see anywhere else in the world.
Then, there?s the Fijian people you will meet.
n Fiji, longer hikes can give the opportunity to open a litt le window onto life in remote rural areas, whether that?s by chatting to a guide as you walk, seeing people farm, hunt
and fish, or visiting villages way off the tourist track to experience their natural hospitality, and at the end of the day sit on the woven pandanus mats, share a bowl of kava, eat the food grown in their gardens and ask all the questions you can think of until your heart is content and your belly full!
Not e t hat in t h is ar t icle we?re m ost ly cover ing day hikes.
For overnight trekking, we suggest you go with a professional guide through a company such as Talanoa Treks. Under no circumstances should visitors walk through tribal land or private property without the permission of the owners. (Of course national parks and reserves don?t fall into this category).
The video above, was made by a television show called Epic Trails, is a teaser for a

segment that they filmed on Fiji. The host, Eric Hanson and director of photography, Lukasz Warzecha spent 6 days with Talanoa Treks? community guides undertaking almost all of their treks.
Taveuni - Boum a - The creation of
national parks in Fiji began in Bouma Village (on Taveuni) where a waterfall has been a major tourist attraction for many years. Despite the tourists, the village was poor and the inhabitants were offered money to log their communal land. It was a tempting proposition but instead of selling their birthright the villagers opted for a F$60,000 New Zealand Government grant to improve the land and create a park centered around the waterfall.
With the money Bouma villagers improved access to the falls, constructed trails, BBQ pits, benches and picnic spots. The park was opened in 1993 and was a hit with visitors. What?s more, it made money for the village (which charges an entrance fee). Similar infrastructure development has taken place in the other park areas around Fiji
Tavoro Falls - Taveuni - There are a
series of three falls, all easily accessible on a 3 km long hiking trail. The first falls are a ten minute walk from the road. Along some of the steeper grades there are step-like wooden levels with hand rails. Occasionally you must ford a creek but there is a rope to help navigate the rocks. Hiking entails some serious grades but it is not strenuous and an individual in good health should have no problem.
