Healthcare and Support
Prepare and plan various staff trainings to assist and support students return to school considering SEL, anxiety, trauma-informed practices.
Consider alternate support systems for at-home students (counseling, instruction, attendance). Prepare a manual for SFISD cleaning procedures in all areas and by individual roles. (Teachers and
Classrooms, nutrition, custodial, nurses, etc.) Consider latest guidance in physical environment and floor plans for classrooms, schools, offices, nursing
stations. Employee guidance from HR/Business and state agencies to create procedures for immune deficient
employees and return to work. Refine guidance, frequency and forms of communication between school and parents to support learning
in various learning environments. Extra-curricular considerations for SEL Establish preventative measures within the district to avoid domino effect of virus spread based on
guidance.
Extra-Curricular/Co-Curricular
Establish clear guidelines for: Basic health screenings for students and staff
Facilities and equipment sanitization
Indoor vs Outdoor activities (including PE, Clubs, etc.)
Establish clear protocols for each sport/fine arts activity/after school clubs etc., based on UIL guidelines and district procedures
Organize practices to minimize exposure to different groups
Consider calendars from schools within our extra-curricular districts
Use UIL guidelines to create protocols for spectators (home/away)
Communications and Return to Work
Communicate return to school calendar and schedule options and all health/safety protocols. Provide enhanced communication, both in quality/frequency, between teachers and parents.
Consolidate communication to parents from elementary to secondary students from multiple teachers to a single communication platform
Develop and communicate safety protocols for staff to return to school- ie health/safety policies and practices, basic health screenings for students and staff, classroom arrangement, classroom capacity requirements, capacity of hallways, transportation, etc.
Develop/implement mental health supports for students and employees. stay at home requirements- Return to school requirements,
Establish strategies for recruitment of additional substitutes in the event staff is unable to report due to illness related to COVID-19.
Establish a comprehensive communication plan for implementation from each sub-committee area.
Safety, Operations, and Finance
Establish Maintenance Custodial/Facilities Protocols (Manual, Guidelines, Etc.) Distribute disinfecting supplies and instructions to staff.
Training for teachers and staff on disinfecting protocols.
Stock up with disinfecting spray, wipes, paper towels, spray bottles, solution etc.
Extra stock at facilities and quick turnaround for requests.
Install more hand sanitizer stations in every class and hallways.
Establish Health/Safety Protocols/Guidelines within School Safety Measures (Police) Eliminate visitors (review each quarter);
Eliminates passing back and forth information between staff and visitors, visitors next to students in cafeteria eliminates exposure;
Extra supplies needed for backpack review. Include providing extra gloves, disinfecting supplies at metal detector stations
Establish Transportation Guidelines/Protocols Family groups on the door side and solitary riders on driver’s side.
Using this seating arrangement 25 – 27 students per bus. Normal capacity is 50 JH/HS seniors and 72 elementary;
Survey parents re-register because there could be the possibility of less riders.
Offer JH/SR 1st period off period if they can transport younger siblings.
Revisit walk up zones for schools
Recommend/suggest students wear mask on buses
Safety, Operations, and Finance
Establish Cafeteria and Nutrition Service Protocols/Guidelines for Students and Staff Limit cash exchange between students and staff.
Meals in the classroom preK and Kinder keep them in place. It is suggested all other students be served through the cafeteria lines.
Use decals on the floor to denote 6 feet apart.
Use disposable serving items.
Remove chairs at the cafeteria areas; add more lunch periods for fewer students, rotate classes eating in the classroom to reduce crowds in cafeterias,
YUM! Nutrition Services will close the share carts until it is deemed safe to use them again.
We will stop using PIN pads for students until it is safe to do so. Students will have to tell the cashier their name/homeroom.
Cashiers will protect students at the register by wearing masks and face shields.
All café staff will wear face masks.
Students will not be allowed to self-serve items, café staff will hand them their selections. Milk boxes will be turned around so students cannot self-serve milk. Café staff will serve milk.
All serving lines will be sanitized between classes
Establish Guidelines for Budget Needs Associated with Health/Safety Protocols Extra supplies: gloves, spray, wipes etc costs need to be added to the budget.
Learning and the Calendar
Consider and develop school calendar options for 2020-2021 school year based on student needs. Consider scheduling options at each campus (ex. Block, A/B, etc.)
Consider and prepare procedures for classroom instruction with clear expectations for teaching practices in remote/digital and in person learning environments (hybrid).
Explore and develop new approaches to instructing the “absentee” student through use of virtual learning. Develop a catalogue of personalized instructional videos of district educators teaching various grade
level/subject specific strategies to enhance student learning and promote parent understanding. Discuss, prepare, review, and create systems for supporting and instructing personalized learning for
targeted populations in distance learning: special needs, gifted and talented, ESL, 504, RTI. Prepare shell of instruction in learning management system to use in remote and face to face learning
environments. Consider, develop, and provide professional learning in various methods of assessing students remotely and
