Amalia Hernandez .
She was born on Mexico City, September 1, 1917 and died on November 5, 2000 was a Mexican ballet choreographer and founder of the world-renowned Ballet Folklórico de Mexico.Was honored with the National Award for the Arts in 1992.She also founded the School of Ballet Folklorico in Mexico whose building was designed by his brother, the laureate architect Agustin Hernandez in 1968.
Amalia Hernández Navarro
Studied at the Mexican Academy of Dance where she was also a teacher, dancer and choreographer. She also studied ballet with Anna Sokolow and teachers Waldeen von Falkenstein. It pioneered the development of folk ballet itself, which flows collected regional folk dancing in a multicultural Mexico and is characterized by a great diversity of art forms that crystallize in dance as an art of the people.
When he founded his folkloric ballet group in 1952, was only eight dancers and in 1959, when he represented Mexico at the Pan American Games in Chicago, he had a set of 50 components.
Amalia Hernández created over 60 choreographies of dances from Mexico and founded the group continues to represent her country both locally and in international forums.
She married the noted scholar and diplomat Jose Luis Martinez Rodriguez, with whom he had a son, Jose Luis Martinez Hernandez.
