Outdoor programs focus on team building, outdoor skill development, problem solving, artistic inquiry and much more. With three properties across our jurisdiction, our council offered girls many ways to experience the great outdoors—from weekend troop camping trips to exciting outdoor events and, of course, summertime adventures at Day and Resident Camps.

MOUNTAIN MOMMA'S

Our 2018-2019 signature Council Patch Program

celebrated the women who have played a large

role in shaping Appalachian heritage. They

have been prominent in the households, in coal

history, and have broken barriers in sports,

science, the arts, and business.

The women of Appalachia are as adaptable and

tough as the mountains. Appalachian women

are power, grace and beauty. Each month, a

Mountain Momma was highlighted and her

achievements were recognized.

Breanna Collins, Harrisville, WVBreanna decorated and packed "Sweet Cases." These cases are provided for children in foster care because many times they have to carry their belongings in trash bags. Breanna felt strongly about this project because

she was in the foster care system and knows how stressful and scary it is.

Makara Eick Bloomingdale, OHMakara renovated the playground at the Wayne Township Community Center to make it a fun and safe environment that kids could enjoy playing on like she did over the past years. When she chose this project, she never anticipated the amount of support and help that she would receive. People in the community teamed up with her to surpass her goal and allowed her to make the playground much nicer than she ever expected. She upgraded and painted all of the existing playground equipment that was still in good condition and tore down dilapidated pieces. She was even able to purchase two brand new pieces that allow children of all ages to enjoy.

Eleanor Mommessin, Vienna, WVEleanor's project addressed two environmental issues; natural control of a mosquito population and adding habitat for the bee and butterfly population in a wildlife refuge. Eleanor built a bat house and

planted a pollinator garden to provide new habitat for bees and butterflies. She also created educational information about the benefits of bats and pollinator gardens for the city of Vienna's website.

Lucy Thompson, Morgantown, WVLucy created an alumni database of past choir members as well as a Facebook group to reconnect alumni with their classmates and foster a dynamic and supportive community. Her goal with this project was to improve the choir program so that it could continue to offer the amazing opportunities, friendships, and personal growth that she enjoyed as a member.

Jessie Walker Morgantown, WVJessica coordinated Paws for a Cause, an animal-wellness focused event with a variety of activities for pet owners and pet lovers. She created a dog obstacle course as well as information displays regarding animal health. Jessica created elevated

feeding stands and information packets for new pet owners for Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia.
