!e calendar says win-ter but Mother Nature hasn’t been cooperat-ing on making any real snow for local skiers. But that hasn’t stopped the folks at Alpine Val-ley in White Lake. Of-"ce manager Mari Atreo says the ski run opened recently.
“It’s a little bit of a slow start but we’re get-ting there,” Atreo said. “We opened once and closed and reopened again Wednesday (12/12) and we’ll go as long as we can.” With only a couple of runs open at this point in the season, Alpine Valley has had plenty of
visitors taking turns on them. But when school is out and the holidays hit, Atreo expects more runs to be open and more skiers and snow-boarders to be hitting the runs.
“!e holidays are one of our busiest times as long as the snow is good. We’re hoping the weather will turn around for us,” she said.

women do not need to accept incontinence as a normal part of life. It’s usually

In spite of a light rain, hundreds of students and other members of the community turned out on Sunday, Dec. 16 for a candlelight prayer service for the victims and families of those killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. The service was organized by Huron Valley Milford High School senior Jarred Jackson and led by Alan Coloske. Music was provided by Huron Valley Milford senior Shaun Richardson, and Nadia Hassan closed with a prayer. The names of the 20 students and six educators killed during the Friday, Dec. 14 massacre were also read. !SPINAL COLUMN NEWSWEEKLY PHOTO/CINDIE AUDIA"
