782 * 1904 Unadopted JB Cooke Essay in sepia depicting the ‘Viaduct near Adelaide’, one of three Views essays he submitted ofwhich this was the only rejected design for the 1909 State issue (although the design was used 10 years later, on aCommonwealth Letter Card). The essays differ in several aspects to the issued card, notably the font and and length of thehorizontal lines dividing the header. The uniqueness of this essay makes it relevant to the first Commonwealth of Australiastationery issue.
