A200 DC Charger Dispenser Datasheet High-Power Charging – The New Challenge for Class 1/2/3/4/5 EVs Historically, chargers for light vehicles have been fairly low-power devices. Level 1 EV chargers are typically power limited to ~1.5kW (5 mile range/hr), while Level 2 chargers are typically limited to ~6kW (20 mile range/hr). Today’s fast chargers for electric automotive and light trucks provide 60kW (200 mile range/hr), and “super chargers” can provide up to 250kW (800+ mile range/hr). Designs for small Level 1/2 AC chargers are unable to be “scaled-up” to meet today’s high- power DC fast chargers. These high-power chargers require robust designs that are capable of operating continuously at rated load, with each charger serving multiple vehicles each day. Another key difference between small Level 1/2 AC chargers and high-power chargers is support for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capability, which is critical for fleet EV charging. High-Power Charging – The New Challenge for Class 1/2/3/4/5 EVs

Historically, chargers for light vehicles have been fairly low-power devices.

Designs for small Level 1/2 AC chargers are unable to be “scaled-up” to meet today’s high-power DC fast chargers.

Charging Solutions That Are Expert-Engineered for Rapid EV Charging

Requirements At Rhombus, our expertise is in the design of robust, high-power, bi-directional charging solutions. Our EV charging solutions are designed specifically for continuous operation at rated loads. Rhombus has fielded hundreds of units in the most challenging EV charging scenarios, with near-zero failure rates.

Additionally, Rhombus stations are capable of bi-directional power flow aligned with rapidly advancing vehicle to grid V2G technology, and allowing integration with power storage and non-grid renewable power resources.
