Description:
Airbus A380 Technical Training Manual (TTM)Full DocumentNew VersionThe first A380 technical manual, the "Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning," was released this month. It can be consulted and/or downloaded from the A380 Family page on Airbus' web site at www.airbus.com. This is the first time a technical manual of this nature has been made available so early, some three years before the first flight of the aircraft. The Airplane Characteristics manual provides specific A380 data needed by airport authorities and planners to support the operation of the A380 within their airports. Data such as airplane dimensions, take off and landing distances, terminal operations data, taxiing, parking and pavement loading requirements are provided for the A380-800 and A380-800F, the passenger and freighter versions of the A380.Airbus has been working with planning teams from 50 major airports in five continents to ensure smooth handling of the A380 when it enters service in 2006 and the Airplane Characteristics manual is a major support for this.Following release of this first manual and up to entry into service of the A380, Airbus will deliver a full range of technical data for the maintenance, engineering, material support and flight operations departments of A380 airline customers. Technical data for the A380 will be available in electronic format according to the most recent aviation industry standards, which are more efficient and user friendly. They will be accessible through Airbus On Line Services, the Airbus portal for Customer Support.

NETWORK SERVER SYSTEM & ONBOARD INFORMATION SYSTEM (AVIONICS DOMAIN)

    DESCRIPTION (3)

    AVIONICS DOMAIN Overview

The AVIONICS DOMAIN is composed of:

-2 redundant servers named Aircraft Network Server Unit-OPerationS

(ANSU-OPS). These servers supply computing and memory resources

to the hosted OIS applications, documentation and database.

-2 redundant routers named Aircraft Router Unit-OPerationS (ARU-OPS).

These routers manage data exchanged between the AVIONICS WORLD,

the Network Server System (NSS) and its Human Machine Interfaces

    (HMIs).

-1 Secure Interface Router Unit (SIRU) is dedicated to decontaminating

Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS)

messages coming from ground and to safely connect PortableMultipurpose Access Terminals (PMATs) and Flight Attendant Panels

(FAPs) giving access to some NSS AVIONICS DOMAIN hosted

    applications,

-2 Secure Communication Interfaces (SCIs), which supply safe and duplex

communication between the OIS applications and the AVIONICS

WORLD. Both SCIs also do the same between the OIS applications and

the Airline Operational Control (AOC) centers through the ACARS

    network.

The Centralized Data Acquisition Module (CDAM) supplies aircraft

parameters and avionics data from the AVIONICS WORLD to the NSSfor recording and for OIS applications needs.

-1 Open World Diode (OWD), which allows a unidirectional data flow

coming from the AVIONICS DOMAIN and going to other NSS domains

    and some cabin systems.

Note that the OWD is an electrical device that gives a single way of

communication from its left to its right. It prevents malicious data coming

from its right going to the avionics domain and to the avionics world.

The AVIONICS DOMAIN is accessible from the cockpit , from the cabin

and from additional areas on the A/C, through various interfaces, which

    are:

-The CAPT and the F/O Onboard Information Terminals (OITs) with

their keyboard and Additional Control Device (ACD) mainly dedicated

    to the flight crew,

-The Onboard Maintenance Terminal (OMT), including a media drive

(Compact Disk (CD) reader/writer and Digital Video Disk (DVD) reader),

    dedicated to the maintenance staff,

-The PMATs dedicated to maintenance staff (PMAT is a ground support

    equipment),

-The main and upper deck Flight Attendant Panels (FAPs) dedicated to

the cabin crew,-And the Printer-1, installed on the pedestal, dedicated to flight crew and

    maintenance staff.

    DESCRIPTION (3)

    AVIONICS DOMAIN Architecture

The AVIONICS DOMAIN supplies services like onboard/AOC centers

communication capability, maintenance tools, recording, e-documentation

    and servicing tools.

These services are done by the NSS and OIS applications and

    documentation.

These OIS applications and documentation include:

-Communication between the A/C and the AOC centers managed by an

    AOC application,

-Maintenance operations with an Onboard Maintenance System (OMS)

application and a Virtual Digital Aircraft condition monitoring system

Recorder (VDAR) application,-Recording of A/C parameters with a Virtual Quick Access Recorder

    (VQAR) application,

-Electronic documentation with a Cabin Crew Operating Manual

(CCOM), a Configuration Deviation List (CDL) and a Minimum

    Equipment List (MEL),

    -Servicing with a Refuel application.

These applications are hosted in two redundant servers called ANSU-OPS.

Both servers are connected to each other for their database synchronization

and to get through loss of one ARU-OPS. These applications dialogue

with the AVIONICS WORLD through two redundant routers (ARU-OPS)and two redundant SCIs. Moreover they receive data coming from the

    AVIONICS WORLD through the CDAM.

The onboard/AOC centers communications are done through the Avionics

Communication Router (ACR) application installed in the Core Processing

Input/Output Module (CPIOM)-D3 and various communication means

such as High Frequency Data Radio (HFDR), VHF Data Radio (VDR)

    and SATellite COMmunication (SATCOM).

Two switches called "OIT SIDE" switches are used to display on each

OIT data, from applications hosted either in the AVIONICS or FLIGHT

OPERATIONS DOMAINs.Two Units called OIT-Terminal Processor Unit (TPU) are dedicated to

process the data coming from OIT keyboard and Additional Control

Device (ACD) and the data coming from the FLIGHT OPERATIONS

    DOMAIN.

The OITs display the OIS applications hosted either in both ANSUs-OPS

    or CAPT and F/O laptops.

The PMAT, located in the upper avionics bay, gives access to OIS

maintenance applications through 9 dedicated network plugs installed in

the A/C (forward Lower Deck Cargo Compartment (LDCC), main

avionics bay, upper avionics bay, refuel panel, nose landing gear, aftlower LDCC, aft avionics bay, OMT rack and APU compartment).

    A "GND CONNECTION" P/B allows:

-In ON position (P/B pressed in), the PMAT to be connected to the SIRU,

-In released out position, the PMAT to be disconnected from the SIRU.

The main and upper FAPs give access to the CCOM and the cabin

    logbook.

Two NSS Control Units (NCUs) are dedicated to control the power up

and power down of certain NSS LRUs.

A FAN is mounted on the ARU-OPS, 2 and the ANSU-OPS, 2 to provide

backup ventilation in case of loss of the main avionics bay ventilation.

The main protocol of communication used in the open world is theEthernet.

    DESCRIPTION (3)

    SCI-CDAM

The AVIONICS WORLD and the OPEN WORLD need to exchange

data to each other. Depending on their type, data are sent either through

    CDAM or SCIs.

The CDAM fulfills an unidirectional gateway function for A/C parameters

coming from LRUs and LRMs and going to specific OIS applications.

This gateway function converts AFDX and ARINC 429 data into Ethernet.

The SCI fulfills a bidirectional gateway and security functions for various

data, exchanged between various LRUs and OIS applications.

    These LRUs are:

-PDMCs for the control of the Electronic C/Bs. This is in Ethernet format,

-LRUs for OMS data, Ground/Flight data, etc. These data are convertedby both SCIs from discrete or ARINC 429 format into Ethernet format

    and vice versa.

-LRUs and LRMs, through the ADCN, for OMS data. These data are

converted by both SCIs from AFDX format into Ethernet format and vice

    versa.

There are two SCIs for redundancy purpose. Only a single SCI at a t ime,

the one declared "active", exchanges data between AVIONICS WORLD

    and OPEN WORLD.

The SCI toggles between passive and active status in two conditions:

after 6 hours of operation and in flight phase number 12.Both SCIs exchange their health data in Ethernet format and their

active/inactive status in discrete format to each other.

A "NSS DATA TO AVNCS" P/B allows:

-In pressed in position, data to flow in both directions between the OPEN

    WORLD and AVIONICS WORLD,

-In OFF position (P/B released out) data to flow from the AVIONICS

WORLD to the OPEN WORLD only.

    DESCRIPTION (3)

    NSS Power Supply Reconfigurations

The AC BUS supplies most of NSS LRUs and the AC ESS BUS supplies

    a few NSS LRUs.

In case of loss of these buses:

-Up to 5 seconds, the power supply board of some NSS LRU is switched

to the DC BUS, DC ESS BUS or HOT BUS power supply,

-After than 5 seconds, a power supply shutdown of the NSS LRUs is

started (the shut down lasts up to 120 s).

The NSS LRUs supplied by the AC BUS and able to switch to the DC

    BUS are:

    -Both ARUs-OPS,

    -The SIRU,-The CAPT OIT,

    -The CAPT OIT-TPU,

    -The OMT.

The NSS LRUs supplied by the AC ESS BUS and able to switch to the

    DC ESS BUS are:

    -The F/O OIT,

    -The F/O OIT-TPU,

    -The ARU-AFMR.

In addition, the ANSUs-OPS and ANSU-AFMR are able to switch to the

HOT BUS for up to 120 s in order to avoid a hard shut down and therefore

    loose data.

The CNSU-PAX includes a battery to avoid a hard shut down in case of

    power supply loss.

On ground and on battery, the AC EMER BUS supplies the:

    -The F/O OIT,

    -The F/O OIT-TPU,

    -The ARU-AFMR.

This configuration helps the F/O to prepare the next flight with his laptop.

On ground, on battery and the "REMOTE C/B CTL" P/B pressed in, the

    AC EMER BUS supplies:

    -The SCI 1,-The ARU-OPS 2,

    -The ANSU-OPS 2,

    -The NCU 2,

    -The OMT.

This configuration gives the mechanics access to the Power Distribution

Control System (PDCS) on the OMT in order to control the remote C/Bs.

The "NSS MASTER SW", when released out, activates a hard shut down

of NSS LRUs installed in this upper avionics bay 2900VU (in case of

    smoke detection).

NETWORK SERVER SYSTEM & ONBOARD INFORMATION SYSTEM (FLIGHT OPERATIONS

    DOMAIN) DESCRIPTION (3)

    FLIGHT OPERATIONS DOMAIN Architecture

The FLIGHT OPERATIONS DOMAIN supplies services such as

performance computation, operational electronic documentation and

navigation support tool and communication management.

The OIS applications hosted by the laptops-AFMR and the backup

    laptop-AFMR include:

-Applications related to A/C performance like TAKE OFF, in flight,

    landing and weight & balance,

-Electronics documentation such as Configuration Deviation List (CDL),

Flight Crew Operating Manual (FCOM), Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM)

    and Minimum Equipment List (MEL),

-Optional navigation applications such as NAVigation CHART, ElectronicFlight Folder (EFF) and Flight Follow Up (FFU)

-Tool to support maintenance operations dedicated to certain FLIGHT

OPERATIONS DOMAIN components with the Local Maintenance

    Function (LMF) application.

The OIS applications hosted by ANSU-AFMR include a PUSH

FUNCTION application and a Wireless Local area network Manager

(WLM) application. These two applications give communication services

for data exchange through the WACS (e.g.: Virtual Quick Access

    Recorder (VQAR) data).

2 USB plugs are installed on each laptop platform. These plugs are used

to plug in USB keys for data loading operations.

The flight crew uses those USB keys for the data loading (operational

flight data, etc...) of the Electronic Flight Folder (EFF).

The USB keys are used as a backup of the gate link.

Data is stored under the ARINC 615A format (data loading protocol) and

    secured by an electronic signature.

The backup laptop-AFMR can be connected to the ARU-AFMR through

1 dedicated network plug installed at the OMT rack.

The ARU-AFMR is connected to the WACS through a Terminal Wireless

Local area network Unit (TWLU). The TWLU supplies the NSS with an

onboard/AOC centers wireless-communication.The ARU-AFMR is also connected to the COMMUNICATION & CABIN

DOMAIN to connect the EFF application with an onboard/ground data

    link through the SATCOM system.

A "CAB DATA TO NSS" P/B allows:

-In pressed in position, data to flow in both directions between the

ARU-AFMR and the COMMUNICATION & CABIN DOMAIN,

-In OFF position (P/B released out) data to flow from the ARU-AFMR

to the COMMUNICATION AND CABIN DOMAIN only.

NETWORK SERVER SYSTEM & ONBOARD INFORMATION SYSTEM (COMMUNICATION & CABIN

    DOMAIN) DESCRIPTION (3)

    COMMUNICATION & CABIN DOMAIN Architecture

The COMMUNICATION and CABIN DOMAIN supplies services suchas PAX services, communication management capability and maintenance

    tools.

These services are done by the NSS and OIS applications.

These OIS applications are hosted by the server named CNSU-PAX.

The CNSU-PAX hosts various applications, which are:

    -E-mail and Internet applications,

    -Communication management application,

-Wireless Local area network Manager (WLM) application,

    -Local Maintenance Function (LMF) application.

The E-mail and Internet applications are used for the related passengersto write and receive e-mail, and to surf the net during flight.

The communication management application manages the data links

using the SATCOM system (e.g.: communication channel opening and

closing, channels selection based on cost). These data links, using the

SATCOM system through an optional High Speed Data Unit (HSDU),

are used by the E-mail, Internet and Electronic Flight Folder (EFF)

applications and certain cabin systems such as CVMS and IFE system.

The WLM application transmits configuration data to the CWLUs (e.g.:

wireless communications not available during TAKE OFF).

The LMF supports maintenance operations dedicated to

COMMUNICATION and CABIN DOMAIN components.A passenger with a PED (e.g. laptop) can access to e-mail and Internet

applications through a Seat Electronic Box (SEB), an In-Flight

Entertainment Center (IFEC) and the CRU-COM.

The type of connection between this PED and the SEB may be USB or

    RJ45.

A passenger with a wireless PED (e.g. laptop equipped with a WIFI

board) can access to e-mail and Internet applications through 4 leaky line

    antennae and 4 CWLUs.

Each leaky line is connected to both CWLUs through coaxial links. The

four leaky lines cover the total length of the main and upper deck cabin.

An airline cabin laptop may be connected to dedicated plugs, one locatedat the door M1R, and one at the front face of the CNSU-PAX, for

maintenance purpose (e.g. to access to the LMF application).

The type of connection between this airline cabin laptop and these plugs

is RJ45 at the door M1R, and RJ45 or USB at the front face of the

    CNSU-PAX.

A "NSS CABIN" C/B is used to reset the CNSU-PAX, the CRU-COM

    and the CWLUs.

The "PAX SYS" P/B, when released out, activates a hard shut down of

all CWLUs (in case of smoke detection).

The COMMUNICATION and CABIN DOMAIN routes data coming

from the AVIONICS DOMAIN for the CVMS (e.g.: flight number) andthe (IFE) system (e.g.: airshow data).
