Wycombe Abbey's international development has marked an exciting new phase in
the evolution of an exceptional school with a proud heritage and a bright future.
Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou, China opened in 2016 and is a thriving
co-educational day and boarding school of over 1,000 pupils studying from
Kindergarten to Year 13.
Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong opened on 5th September 2019. It is an
exciting new co-educational primary school with a fresh approach to the curriculum
that combines the National Curriculum for England with an extensive Chinese
language syllabus.
Our new Campus is situated in Tin Wan, Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island.
It is equipped to provide an outstanding primary school experience, where
our pupils enjoy the best possible educational foundation, with dedicated
facilities for Speech and Drama, Music, Art, Science and STEAM subjects.

Our vision for our new primary school is to give

Abbey UK, a school that is recognised

Our pupils are con�dent, happy, responsible, self-motivated, highly skilled global citizens.
The Wycombe Abbey School curriculum has been speci�cally designed
to provide primary age children with an approach to teaching and
learning that combines all that is best from the UK, international and
local primary education systems, ensuring that they are ideally prepared
for the next steps in their schooling.
Our bespoke curriculum re�ects the cultural, linguistic, geographical and
historical signi�cance of Hong Kong, Greater China and the wider region.
We ensure that our pupils have a �rm grounding in the Chinese language
and culture, with a particular emphasis on the Chinese approach to
Maths. At the same time, our pupils develop total �uency in English and
access a curriculum which is built around the core components of the
internationally renowned National Curriculum for England and
excellence in Chinese language and culture.
Chinese is taught as a discrete subject in every year group, with a similar number of lessons allocated to Chinese, English and Maths
each week. Putonghua is the medium of instruction for all Chinese lessons and our pupils are taught primarily to read and write
simpli�ed characters, with exposure to traditional characters through lessons in calligraphy, voluntary supplementary reading lessons
and a variety of extra-curricular activities. We ensure our pupils have a �rm knowledge and keen appreciation of Chinese culture
and language, as well as achieving �uency in English and the ability to adapt appropriately to a Western cultural context when
necessary.
A Balanced Curriculum with Chinese as a core subject
alongside English and Maths
我們的課堂時間從早上�時半到下午�時，每天共有九堂課。學校會提供校車服務，讓學生以有秩序和安全的方式到達和離開校舍。
我們會鼓勵同學們參加從下午�時至�時增設的課外活動。
對於希望在校逗留更長時間的學生，我們亦會提供�時至�時的課餘學習，好讓孩子們做功課或舒展身心。
Our school day runs from 8.30am to 3.00pm with 9
lessons in the day. The school has a mandatory school
bus policy, so that children can arrive and leave by
school bus.
Children are encouraged to stay on for our extra-cur-
ricular enrichment programme which will be available
from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
For those wishing to stay later, we provide
supervised after school care to allow the children to
relax or do their homework until 6.00pm.
Young children are natural enthusiasts. They want to try everything!
That's �ne with us. We provide a very broad and varied programme
of experiences and extra-curricular activities for every child.
Over the years they spend at the school, our pupils have the
opportunity to experience an inspiring choice of di�erent activities,
from individual and team sports to creative arts, music, drama and
much, much more, in an exciting range of teams, clubs and societies.
Our pupils develop ambition and resilience and, through the breadth
of experiences they enjoy in our extra-curricular programme, they
develop into con�dent, well-balanced and happy young people ready
to embrace the challenges of top-�ight secondary education
wherever in the world they may go.
