Education . . . Designations – In-Person Seminars
–
I was fortunate to have been introduced to the Austin Apartment Association within my first month of joining the industry, which was 20 years ago this past April. My Manager at the
time encouraged me to obtain my PLP designation (which is what it was called before it became NALP.) The PLP designation course
set me on the right path as a Leasing Professional, and when I became a Community Manager a few years later, I obtained my CAM
and CAPS designations. Both courses were invaluable to my career, not only from a
knowledge and resource standpoint, but also due to the fantastic networking opportunities.
The designation programs helped me to further my career path within the industry,
and I’ve been fortunate to become involved in the facilitation and on-going curriculum
updates to the various programs to keep them fresh and relevant to today’s workforce.
Stephanie Puryear Helling CAPS, CAM, PLP, NAAEI Faculty
Director – Education & Training, Greystar
I obtained my Certified Apartment Supplier designation in 2005. The
CAS curriculum gave me a much greater understanding of the multifamily industry and the
challenges faced by our customers. With the knowledge I and other members of our team gained by
completing the CAS designation, we have revised our services and
processes to better meet the needs of multifamily customers. The
results speak for themselves – since 2005 our sales have grown over
500%!
Benjamin H. Wells CAS
President – UCS
– Webinars – Online Learning – Learn @ Lunch – IROC
I recently went through the CAM class with Jackie Ramstedt and I am so thankful I got the opportunity to learn from someone who I believe is the industry’s best. I
have been a property manager for 4 years and after going through the CAM class I feel better prepared for the issues that face a community.
Cecil Domel CAM
Manager – The Hampton Apartments
Education is important to all levels of management to help ensure we remain leaders within our industry and
keep us a step ahead of the competition. By taking classes with the Apartment Association it prevents us from becoming stale and complacent since we live and work in a world that is always changing. When taking classes I often meet new people which all me to grow my circle of resources and when I have a problem to
solve I often find myself reaching out to these individuals.
Theresa Ebner CAPS, CAM
Regional Property Supervisor - LDG Development
I decided to get my CAM after 22 years in the industry. I figured it would look good on my resume, but it has done so much more. Believe it or not I learned so many new ways to
enrich the day to day operations of the communities I manage. The networking opportunity has introduced me to many influential people at the local and state level of
our industry. It has truly invigorated my sense of the industry that I chosen to have a career in.
