This is achieved by using our senses to paint a vivid picture in the reader's mind. The example below was wrien by the class with all students contribung their best ideas to create the final product . Very soon, the students will take this knowledge and use it to create their own individual engaging stories that will capvate and entertain the reader. If only I had listened to Mum, I'd have been home on me. Instead, I had to take a shortcut. Through the abandoned church graveyard. Crooked silhouees loomed ahead of me and owls hooted their night me song. Anxiety filled my body as I crept cauously towards the darkness. Entering the spooky, enchanted cemetery, fog crawled across the home of the lost. The voices in my head whispered to turn back, but I knew Mum was waing. My mouth dried out and I suddenly found it difficult to swallow. Were they real eyes stalking my every move, or a figment of my imaginaon? The trees seemed to howl my name and I hesitantly marched with a shake in my stride. The cold night air tasted sour on my tongue and a cold sweat trickled down my cheeks like a dripping tap in the middle of the night. I took a deep breath to steady my nerves, and as mouldy, misty air inhabited my lungs, I fell. Shadows warped before my very eyes and my fingers shuffled and scraped across the mossy, chipped tombstones. Trying to find a strong grip and pulling myself up with a nearby shovel, I ignored the crawling sensaon up my back. No me to turn around. Pushing my way through an eternity of spider webs that seemed to wrap around me like a net, the faint line of the front gate caught my gaze. Term 1 Week Friday

Storyboard Bus

On Monday the 21st of February, a lucky selection of

senior students were treated to a Writing workshop

with the Storyboard Bus. As soon as they arrived

Zanni introduced herself and told us a little bit about

her job. First we had to make and design a character.

Then we all discussed and created a list of traits for

our character. Zanni taught us how to plan and improve our writing by showing us

how to use a new story graph. We all shared our ideas and then we were all given an

evaluation sheet on how we enjoyed the morning. The Storyboard Bus was a great

experience and we all had lots of fun. We can’t wait for the next session.

Eli & Ned.

In the Classroom.

5/6D has been studying how to "Tighten the Tension" in their writing this week. This is achieved by using our senses to paint a vivid picture in the reader's mind. The example below was written by the class with all students contributing their best ideas to create the final product . Very soon, the students will take this knowledge and use it to create their own individual engaging stories that will captivate and entertain the reader.

If only I had listened to Mum, I'd have been home on time. Instead, I had to take a shortcut. Through the abandoned church graveyard.

Crooked silhouettes loomed ahead of me and owls hooted their night time song. Anxiety filled

my body as I crept cautiously towards the darkness.

Entering the spooky, enchanted cemetery, fog crawled across the home of the lost. The voices in my head whispered to turn back, but I knew Mum was waiting. My mouth dried out and I

suddenly found it difficult to swallow. Were they real eyes stalking my every move, or a figment of my imagination?

The trees seemed to howl my name and I hesitantly marched with a shake in my stride. The

cold night air tasted sour on my tongue and a cold sweat trickled down my cheeks like a dripping tap in the middle of the night.

I took a deep breath to steady my nerves, and as mouldy, misty air inhabited my lungs, I fell. Shadows warped before my very eyes and my fingers shuffled and scraped across the mossy, chipped tombstones. Trying to find a strong grip and pulling myself up with a nearby shovel, I ignored the crawling sensation up my back. No time to turn around. Pushing my way through

3/6C Writing

Intro—Two possums appeared in the school. Mum, Belora and

baby on top, Garry.

Problem—Belora noticed some children acting suspiciously near

by. One of the children had a sling shot.

Event—Belora tried to use the large leaves as a shield to protect

Garry, but this did not work.

Belora then decided to climb a very tall tree to escape the enemy,

but it did not work.

Belora told Garry to ignore the enemy, and it worked.

Problem solved—Once the enemies had left, Belora and Garry

noticed a bowl of fresh water. Amongst all the trouble they missed

the kindness.

KJ Writing—Armin and Charli with their

stories about dinosaurs.

Reminder!

The P&C Annual General Meeting is to be held on Wednesday 10th March at 6.30pm

in the Staffroom. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and have a say about

educational programs in your child’s school. Light refreshment will be available.

Please notify the school office on 6624 3344 with you intention to attend. RSVP 9th March.

School and Vice Captains

Our special captains assemblies will be held on 10 March for infants students, and

17 March for the senior students.

Notes have been sent home for those students who are to receive badges. Due to

COVID-19 restrictions, unfortunately only one family member for each child receiv-

ing a badge is able to attend.

We are planning to film the assemblies and share it virtually with our school

community.
