Meet Mark, tour director

The local salmon, cheese, fruits and wine on Tassie tours keep everyone permanently full, but I love sneaking in a visit to a local bakery too – the pies, tarts and slices are so fresh!!

Imagine the front of New Zealand’s glaciers as gigantic ice bulldozer blades, with millions and millions of tonnes of ice behind them. Gravity provides the power to drive those blades through solid rock mountains, creating the incredible valleys we drive through.

Aussie Adventures explores the great outdoors in a small group of approximately 20 fun and friendly travellers. Our down-to-earth Driver Guides will help you uncover hidden places and experiences that you’d miss if travelling on your own. We keep things simple and affordable, but you won’t miss any of the must-see highlights of Australia.

Meet Joanna, day tours I’ve been privileged to get to know the Anangu, the traditional custodians of this land. Being trusted to share their history and stories with visitors is a role I do not take lightly as they have an incredible connection to each other, the landscape, the animals.

Kings Canyon Safety InformationDuring the hotter months temperatures can reach and exceed 36°C or 97°F. At these times the Watarrka National Park Rangers strongly advise that visitors do not take part in the Kings Canyon Rim Climb. In this drier desert climate heat exhaustion over these hotter months is a very high possibility and a danger in such remote regions. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of our clients we offer a guided walk along the Kings Canyon creek-bed as a suitable alternative on such days.

Top End Wet Weather InformationDuring the wet season in the Top End of the Northern Territory (November to April) heavy rain and flooding can preclude access to Ubirr, East Alligator River and Arnhem Land. Alternative touring will be arranged.

Uluru Climb InformationUluru is a sacred sight for the Anangu people and they prefer that visitors do not climb it. With this in mind, we do not recommend it. Throughout the year the Uluru (Ayers Rock) climb may close unexpectedly due to Aboriginal cultural reasons or inclement weather conditions prevailing at the time such as high temperatures, rain, strong winds, storms, low lying clouds or insufficient light.

Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park & Kakadu National Park Entry FeesThe entry fee is $25 per adult and is valid for 3 consecutive days for Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park and 14 consecutive days for Kakadu National Park. When taking multiple Short Breaks or Day Tours over 3 consecutive days in Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park you only need to pay the fee once. This is an additional compulsory government charge and is subject to change without notice. Children 15 years and under enter free. You must carry your entry ticket with you every time you enter the National Parks or you will be required to purchase another.

Sustaining and supporting the destinations we visit is of great importance to us at AAT Kings. We are part of a joint initiative by The Travel Corporation family of brands called TreadRight; a not-for-profit organisation working to ensure the environment and communities we explore remain vibrant for future generations. TreadRight has donated more than USD$2 million to projects worldwide and encourages industry best practice through our support for the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Awards. AAT Kings is proud to support a number of important conservation projects within Australia and New Zealand with a particular focus on wildlife conservation in the areas we visit.

We also support the conservation of the endangered Tasmanian Devil through sponsorship of the Tasmanian Devil breeding program at Tasmania Zoo. We’ve adopted three little Tasmanian Devils already and are proud to support the zoo in their efforts to combat the fatal Devil Facial Tumour Disease that is affecting Tasmanian Devils across Australia.

AAT Kings supports the world's leading research facility for Little Penguins on Phillip Island in Victoria. With a contribution of $118,000 via the TreadRight Foundation, a new penguin weighbridge will monitor the health of the penguins. Interpretive signs have also been erected to help educate visitors about the local environment and this important penguin colony.

AAT Kings has teamed up with Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors to support the koala rehabilitation project at Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Hospital – the country’s largest and busiest wildlife facility. We’ll provide Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors with a donation of $48,000 over two years to support the medical treatment and rehabilitation of koalas at the centre, as well as the building of eco-friendly constructions that will help protect those that are sick and orphaned. We now even have an AAT Kings Koala Mascot!
