About CCE
CCE is an engineering company,
a system integrator in the field of protection, control and
SCADA systems applied in production, transmission and
distribution of electric power
We have three main core businesses:
General and protection systems
Control systems
Services and commissioning
Section 2
CCE was founded in 1990 as a private company with four owners.
Milestones in more than 20 years of our history:
In 1990 we started as a group of four commissioning engineers
In 1997 we did our first complete project: design and delivery of
protection and control systems for two substations in Barbados
In 2002 we did our first big project: design and delivery of
protection and control systems as well as AC/DC supply for two
substations in Abuja, Nigeria
In 2003 we moved into our own premises
In 2003 we acquired ISO9001 certificate
In 2006 we acquired ISO14001 certificate
CCE History
Section 2
CCE employs 23 people.
20 of them have a university degree.
CCE’s greatest asset is a team of highly motivated engineers

Partnership with ABB
Cooperation between CCE and ABB followed an organic path:
Started in 1990 as protection outsourcing
In 1997 we established control department and got familiar with MicroSCADA at ABB Oy training
In 1998 we designed and delivered a set of protection panels based on 500 series terminals from ABB AB Västerås
In 2001 we delivered our first RTU560
The decision to offer our own solutions and a high level of expertise lead us to OEM partnership with three main ABB manufacturers in the field of secondary systems
Section 2
We started to work with ABB AB on the Drava river project in 1996.
Barbados delivery in 1998 was our first design – configuration -assembly project based on ABB HV terminals (REx500 series)
We decided to build a strong team and organized training in our office. This is now a standard for each new generation or major change.
The first Agreement of Partnership was signed in 2002.
Partnership with ABB AB Substation Automation Products Västerås
Section 2
Our engineers took the first training course concerning REF540 series in 1996.
The major step was the decision for MicroSCADA training in 1997.
As the first non-ABB company we signed License Agreement concerning MicroSCADA in 2000 .
In 2004 we became certified co-operation partner and started to promote and deliver ABB Oy products in our project/solutions
Partnership with ABB OySubstation Automation Products Vaasa
Section 2
We started to work for ABB AG as commissioning engineers in 1995.
In that period we got familiar with RTU230.
When RTU560 was introduced we saw a number of possible implementations. The first was installation of two RTU560 as a gateway for a small distribution S/S in Bosnia.
An important step towards partnership was RTU panel design training for our engineer in Mannheim in 2001.
Partnership with ABB AGPSNM ABB Mannheim
Section 2
Previous projects in Nigeria: in the period 2002-2004 we did several big projects involving design and manufacture of protection and control systems
Based on excellent project reference we were awarded two new projects
Proper addressing of customer requests
Smooth switch-over from 500 series to the IEC61850 based 670 series

NIGER DELTA PROJECT - 2012
Two substations330kV Ugwuaji & 330/132/33kV Oke Aro
Section 2
Our scope of supply includes overall design and equipment delivery for the following :
Complete protection systems
Complete substation control system with SCADA and Gateway
AC/DC supply including batteries, chargers and inverters
We support our partners with all necessary information to speed up the engineering process and make decisions easier
NIGER DELTA PROJECT – 2012Solution for our partners
Section 2
All real projects face some problems:
Concept elaboration and protection settings calculation
Elaboration of necessary protection and control functions and correct ordering of IED’s
Integration of various primary equipment in overall design, like OLTC control which is supplied by others
Integration of various equipment in SAS on the communicationand application level
Solutions of communication and application problems
NIGER DELTA PROJECT – 2012
Addressing the real problems
Section 2
We studied the tender and prepared overall design:
Layout drawings (during the bidding phase)
Block diagrams
Workshop documentation
Cable lists for secondary and primary equipment
And more...
NIGER DELTA PROJECT – 2012Project Design
Important, but not always correctly addressed :
Signal list elaboration with SCADA and protection team
Multiple check of primary equipment interface
Understanding the equipment limitations
And more...
Section 2
IED configuration
Relevant configuration development or modification to meet thetender specifications
IEC 61850 station bus configuration
SCADA configuration
HMI development: process screens, operator interface, etc
Database development, gateway configuration
IEC 61850 Communication engineering
….
NIGER DELTA PROJECT – 2012Device configuration
Section 2
At workshop the panels were put together
Each panel was pretested against wiring mistakes
Each panel was connected to auxiliary supply
Each IED was pretested for correct functionality
FAT documentation was signed in presence of customer representative
The release for shipment was signed
