The ProcessingServer has a scalable architecture and distributes tasks among itsProcessing stations. Administrators and Operators can manage processing and trackstatistics using the easy-to-use Administration and MonitoringConsole. Administrators use the console to manage user rights,system administrationand setup. Operatorscan track jobs orgenerate statistics,control and viewdocument batches,queues, and theirstatus.

Layout development and project setup

FlexiCapture comes with a range of tools for layout development.ABBYY Document Definition Editor is used for creation of machine-read-able fixed form templates – so called Document Definitions – for paperforms such as questionnaires. With ABBYY FlexiLayout StudioFlexiLayouts for semi-structured and unstructured documents likeinvoices or contracts can be developed. Data capture projects areset-up with the ABBYY Project Setup Station which also provideseffective and convenient instruments to test, fine tune and adjustprojects quickly and easily.

Document Processing with FlexiCapture

Scanning and image import (Scanning Station)

Batch scanning of large amounts of documents, management ofscanners, quality control and preparation of images for subsequentprocessing can be handled by the Scanning Station. Organisationsmay use 3rd-party scanning applications, as FlexiCapture supportsHot-Folders to automate import.

OCR, ICR, checkmark and barcode recognition

FlexiCapture is based on ABBYY’s award-winning recognition techno-logies, which deliver unprecedented accuracy and stability in severallanguages for OCR and ICR. 1D and 2D barcodes and checkmarkscan be recognised and powerful image pre-processing functionshelp to improve recognition quality.

Automated data validation

Built-in validation rules are automatically applied during recognitionto increase accuracy. Automatic data validation ensures high dataquality and reduces the workload for subsequent verification.

Document separation, indexing and classification

Simple document separation via blank pages and barcodes can beimplemented in FlexiCapture Distributed. Intelligent separation viamultipage document definitions enables processing of differentdocument types in a single stream. Built in multi-level classifiersspeed-up the document template matching process.

Data verification (Data Verification Station)

Data verification operators execute low-level verification tasks tosee if extracted data can be matched with original document data.Verification can be carried out on group and field-level for thecorrection of form errors. Documents can be sent to an exceptionqueue if data extraction is completely inaccurate.

Document level verification (Verification Station)

Complex document errors can be manually checked using theverification station. Master verification operators can check forassembly errors, in document composition and rules validation fordata correctness. They can also manually re-assemble documentscontaining classification and assembling errors. An intuitive”drag-and-drop” interface simplifies this process.

Faulty documents can also be re-sent to the Data VerificationStation for re-verification. The document window allows a full-scaleimage view for document verification.

Data export

Data can be exported to backend applications, databases or can bestored in enterprise repositories. Powerful export features includeautomated export and export to multiple destinations. FlexiCaptureDistributed supports the following export destinations:

• Files (most common file formats supported)

• External databases (via ODBC)

• Microsoft SharePoint

Archiving and redaction

Document images can be prepared for archiving when convertingthem to Searchable PDF/PDF-A. Redaction allows removingconfidential or sensitive data from certain fields.

ABBYY FlexiCapture Distributed offers a full range of functionality for document classification, data extraction and indexing.Organisations can select and deploy user-attended client operator stations for scanning, data verification and document verification.Flexible workflows and batch type management make it easy to manage the processing and verification steps and configure thelevel of automatic or manual intervention desired. Workflows can be set up to automatically match and route projects to theappropriate workstations for manual verification or can be designed for automated, rule-based verification.

FlexiCapture Distributed is delivered on a pagesper year licensing model. A page limited licensegrants the right to process a given amount ofpages within a designated timeframe in yearlyincrements. PPY describes the amount of pageswhich can be processed during a one year time-frame. Processing power is not limited whenlicensing FlexiCapture Distributed on a PPYlicense scheme. Multiple processing stationsand cores are allowed, which allows forimplementation of high-performance datacapture scenarios in an organisation.
