KATHARINE AZAR
Kate Azar is a philanthropy advisor and the Founder and CEO of Social Good Strategies, LLC. She has worked on social cause initiatives with high profile individuals, nonprofits, foundations and governments for nearly 10 years. She brings passion and expertise to all her clients, which have included Maria Shriver; Lyn and Norman Lear; The California Endowment; the British Royals, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; Verizon; Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw and many more. Through this work, Kate has developed a range of strategy and execution skills in the areas of communications, social media, fundraising, events, press and public affairs.W
Notable past projects include working with Maria Shriver on the rollout of her latest Shriver Report: A Woman Pushes Back From the Brink, coordinating the rollout of Lear's climate change film for the opening of the 2014 UN Climate Summit, and successfully managing logistics, press and non-‐profit partnerships for the Royal Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
Prior to establishing Social Good Strategies, Kate served as an Account Executive at RALLY (formerly Griffin|Schein), a social cause campaign and communications firm in Los Angeles, as well as Deputy Head of Press, Policy and Public Affairs for the British Consulate General, Los Angeles. She's held fundraising, events and program management positions with the US State Department’s Foreign Press Center in Washington, DC, the UCI Center for Citizen Peacebuilding and the USC Center on Public Diplomacy.
She is also the co-‐founder of The Olive Tree Initiative, an award-‐winning conflict analysis and resolution program that uses experiential education to equip students and communities with the training and experiences necessary to better negotiate and solve conflicts.
Kate has a B.A. in International Studies from the University of California, Irvine and an M.A. in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California. She was recently nominated for the OC Business Journal Women in Business Award.
Kate supports many causes but is particularly passionate about global peace, conflict resolution, public diplomacy, mentoring and women's economic and workplace issues. She still actively supports the Olive Tree Initiative, she is a committee member of the National Association of Women Business Owners and sits on the Board of the Center for Regional Engagement.
Kate has given lectures on foreign relations, diplomacy, public relations, advocacy, philanthropy and career development.
