ABOUT THE COMPANYThe vision of IIT Bombay is 'to be the fountainhead
of new ideas and of innovators in technology and science' and its mission 'is to create an ambience
in which new ideas, research and scholarship flourish and from which the leaders and innovators
of tomorrow emerge'. In fulfillment of its vision and mission, IITB has taken the initiative to
promote innovations and to facilitate protection of Intellectual Property (IP) thus generated at IITB. Consequently, the protection of inventions and
other creative works of its faculty, other employees and students as IP have been growing.

5. Excellence Vs Revitalization
Q1 Has revitalization been applied in your organization, Discuss in detail?
Being a government organization it remains the same however, whenever some departments do not get enough projects or too many projects are pending then actions are taken for revitalization such as the technological capability is improved, Staff is trained, creativity & Innovations are inculcated. There are seminars & workshops are arranged for organizational learning. Various student exchange programs are practiced; Principal Investigators & his staff are sent for interaction with their counterparts in other parts of the world. for developing world-class facilities the demands of Institute are met on priority basis & There is no dearth of funds to procure the latest machines & Technology .
Q2 Is the Revitalization approach of Conscientisation & Empowerment can be applied to any Organization, Discuss it by taking a suitable case?
Since the workforce is very diverse in nature, student both Male, Female are part of the projects & Principal Investigator is the immediate boss. To take care of any domination, there is a women empowerment cell; also there is an in house counselor of Faculty status who counsels. The department of Humanities providing all psychological Tests & Diagnosis leading overall Conscientisation of employees as well as the students. There is registered trade union Functioning within the campus for mobilization & empowerment of employees particularly for supporting help.
6. Design For Excellence & their external nurturance
Q1 .Enumerate key measures to rejuvenate Excellence in an organization?
Ensuring that environment is created / nurtured / maintained so that faculty and scientists at IITB are able to conduct research of the highest caliber. The research environment includes laboratories’ civil infrastructure, equipment, support staff -- both technical and administrative -- and research staff .
Providing support for researchers to liaise with (potential) funding sources so as to be able to finance their research and development activities.
Spotting and nurturing opportunities for collaboration between researchers (within IITB) and their counterparts in other institutions.
Ensuring that IITB researchers are positioned to contribute to the state of the art in cutting edge and emerging areas of research in Science and Engineering.
Identifying and putting in place ways and means by which work done by researchers at IITB can be exploited whenever appropriate and possible – to address problems faced by society and industry. Towards this, licensing, commercialization and agile processes for industry-academia partnerships are a must.
Providing admin support for conducting research – management of human resources, financial management, procurement.
