In celebration of the heroic actions of the Tuskegee Airmen, George Lucas and actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard have taken to the big screen to pay homage to one of the country’s most iconic troops of World War II African-American fighters. This film combines photographs, newspaper articles, National Archive footage, interviews, audio clips, and maps to recount this story. The Lucas documentary Double Victory showcases the Airmen’s triumphs amid the adversities of Jim Crow and segregation in the U.S. military. Narrated by Gooding, Double Victory goes inside the lives of many of the living Airmen, recounting stories of racism within the military alongside the Airmen’s tenacious heroism. George Lucas is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and entrepreneur. He is the founder, chairman and chief executive of Lucasfilm. He is the creator of the Star Wars Saga and Indiana Jones series, as well as the critically acclaimed director of American Graffiti and THX 1138. In addition, he is the producer of a myriad of other independent films. His films broke box-office records and set new standards for sophistication in film visuals and sound, to include the first major movie shot using entirely digital media.
