About the World Hydrogen Energy Conference
The World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC) is the global benchmark for research into and
follow-up of hydrogen and fuel cell technology and has been held on a biennial basis in different
venues ever since the first edition in 1976.
WHEC 2016 was organised by the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2), in partnership with the
Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon (FHa) and the
Regional Government of Aragon, and under the auspices of the International Association for
Hydrogen Energy (IAHE).
The general goals of WHEC are:
Disseminating and promoting a generalised use of hydrogen technologies.
Bringing the latest breakthroughs in the research and business sector to the public eye.
Presenting cutting edge hydrogen and fuel cell science and technology.
Fostering the exchange of scientific information and facilitate the contact among all actors
in the sector.
WHEC 2016 achievements:
Representatives from politics and industry gave commitments to the future of hydrogen
technologies in Spain at the opening ceremony and participated in the Test & Drive.
22 plenary presentations on cutting-edge hydrogen technologies and international
strategies. A wide range of oral and poster presentations in 8 parallel rooms during 9
parallel sessions presented by international experts on the state-of-the art of science,
research, development and new markets.
40 Trade Fair Exhibitors, gathering global representatives from industry and science.
More than 500 Test & Drive in Toyota and BMW Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. Sold out
hydrogen refuelling shows.
A unique meeting point for associations, working groups and boards: several spaces were
offered for networking and 10 side events took place during WHEC 2016.

Satisfaction Survey Results
The Organisation conducted a satisfaction survey after the conference in order to give attendees
the opportunity to rate WHEC 2016 on a 5-point scale.
The results reveal that respondents especially highlighted the interest level of presentations
and the relevance of the thematic areas. A well organisation of the sessions, the compliance
with the schedule and the table moderating quality (timing, turn-taking, etc.) at WHEC 2016
were also underlined by respondents, as well as the treatment received from the conference
staff and the interest about the Test&Drive.
The overall satisfaction about WHEC 2016 was rated more than 4 points out of 5.
