About University Police
UAPD is comprised of 79 authorized sworn positions and 17 support positions. All police officers are certified by the State of Alabama and have full arrest powers.
Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc or CALEA, one of only 9 police agencies in the State and one of 69 college or university police agencies in the nation that are accredited.

Education• The C.O.P.’s or Community Oriented Policing
division is a group of officers that work in the residence halls with the students providing education and support to student s in the various residential communities.

Students can notify UAPD at the touch of a button; Can set a safety timer that notifies people you trust to
check in on you if you are alone or in an unfamiliar place; Invite family and friends to be your “guardian” and
communicate with them within the app as needed; Students can submit eyewitness tips including photos to
UAPD; If Guardian has permission to access the location of the
