KEYNOTE SPEECH

The searching of antibacterial activities from three selected fish gills, col-lected from Sur coastal waters, Sultanate of Oman. There are three commonlyavailable different types of fresh fishes. The standard extraction method wasfollowed, hence three different polarity solvents such as, Ethanol, Ethyl ac-etate and Chloroform were used. All crude extracts were tested for theirantibacterial activity (by standard disc diffusion method) against the six se-lected animal pathogens, Aeromonas salmonicida, Staphylococcus auroea,Aeromonas vronii, Vibrio vulnificus, Vibrio cholera and Vibrio parahemolyti-cus.The pathogens were obtained from fish quality control center, Ministry of Agriculture and Fish-eries Wealth, Muscat, Oman. Out of the three solvent extracts, Ethyl acetate extract showed promi-nent activity against the pathogens, The experiments were repeated for three times and the bestactivity was noted as, 5 mm and 4 mm of inhibition zone, which was observed against Aeromonassalmonicida and Staphylococcus auroea respectively and 3 mm zone of inhibition, which wasfound for Vibrio parahemolyticus. The compound purification of the active crude extracts couldbe carried out by TLC, HPTLC, HPLC, NMR, IR etc., in the future. As of now, it is the firstresearch study carried out in Oman coastal waters, using fish gills for antibacterial activity and itwould be encouraging to scientists to investigate the other bioactive research on fish gills in Omancoast.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are fast becoming a drivers of innovation in technol-ogy, and they play an important role in economic development of a growing country. Businessesthat acquire modernization cannot fully function without the help of information technology, whichit is quite essential for the survival and growth of economies in general. Adaptation of a data man-agement system for a business firm is a big factor that can be used for a fast and easy businesstransaction and processing results but considering its current price in the market, it may not be af-fordable for startup business. The study focused on data management system that is a configurableweb-based application that can handle data based on the required set of procedures. This studyintegrated the concepts of distributed system algorithms in the developed data management systemto define and find a solution for handling data responsibilities and techniques that can be used tosolve the challenges encountered in this algorithm.

This paper presents a developed web-based decision support system that implements a multi-criteria decision analysis, the Analytic Network Process (ANP) as modeling tool in screening andselection of agencys priority projects for inclusion in annual budget proposal. Screening and se-lection of priority projects for inclusion in the annual budget proposal of the government is acomplex decision-making that involves many stakeholders with conflicting priorities and dynamicpreferences, as well as limited technical information. Government decision making becomes morecomplicated because of the complexities carried by the people involved in the process, and otherfactors that contribute to balancing of political, technical, and economic considerations. The ap-plication of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods for decision makers helps themfacilitate the systematic treatment of information, inform those involved in the process, and comeup with effective decisions in complex circumstances. Development of decision support systemthat implements MCDA tools such as Analytic Network Process (ANP) modeling techniques inscreening and selection of priority projects helps manage this complexity and makes decision-making efficient, effective, and transparent. The study used a pre-defined set of criteria identifiedduring the progress of the study.

The aim of this study is to searching the antibacterial properties from three selected fishgills, collected from Sur coastal waters, Sultanate of Oman. There are three commonly availabledifferent types of fresh fishes. These types were collected from Sur local market and the gillswere separated alone in aseptically. The standard extraction method was followed, hence threedifferent polarity solvents such as, Ethanol, Ethyl acetate and Chloroform were used. All crude ex-tracts were tested for their antibacterial activity (by standard disc diffusion method) against the sixselected animal pathogens, Aeromonas salmonicida, Staphylococcus auroea, Aeromonas vronii,Vibrio vulnificus, Vibrio cholera and Vibrio parahemolyticus. The experiments were repeated for three times and the bestactivity was noted as, 5 mm and 4 mm of inhibition zone, which was observed against Aeromonassalmonicida and Staphylococcus auroea respectively and 3 mm zone of inhibition, which wasfound for Vibrio parahemolyticus. Hotel industry as part of travel and tourism businesses offers important contribution tothe economy. In Thailand, hotel industry is one of key economic drivers. From human resourcemanagement (HRM) perspective, luxury hotels (e.g. five-star hotels) offer great career opportunityand advancement for employees. Since hotels require competent talents to work for them to achievebusiness goals, they should learn how to motivate and retain employees. Organizational careermanagement (OCM) is an appropriate method for enhancing employees competencies and it canassist employees to accomplish their career progression. In practice, the hotels should develop andimplement strategies based on a sustainable model of organizational career management practices.This paper highlights relevant literature and it had systematically categorized the criteria used indeveloping a model of organizational career management. It proposed a model which could beuseful for future researchers and practitioners who are involved in career management policy andpractices.
