a.k.a. photography is an exhibit dedicated to the unique images created exclusively from Polaroid film. You won’t find snapshots of playful kittens, old barns or dewy spiderwebs in this exhibit. What you will find is a wonderful collection of alternative photographs that have been scratched, scraped and purposely damaged to produce rich textures and distorted shapes. The a.k.a. photography exhibit is designed to keep these artists distracted and off the streets. View the 6th annual a.k.a. photography exhibit at Seattle’s Benham Gallery this September. This event has raised nearly $6000 for charity including the Northwest Aids Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Youth in Focus. This year, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Photographic Center Northwest as a student scholarship. Come join us for a little wine, really loud music, and thirty-five images from some of the most disturbed people on earth. a.k.a. photography is an exhibit dedicated to the unique images created exclusively from Polaroid film. Some images are simple manipulations using common tools like a spoon or paper clip to create a painterly effect on the emulsion. Others exude a quality reminiscent of a charcoal drawing, or, watercolor. A few

are computer altered masterpieces likely created by a guy in his parent’s dark basement (we don’t ask questions).

a.k.a. photography is an exhibit dedicated to the unique images created exclusively from Polaroid film. Artists alter and purposely damage the film to create very unique effects. How will they destroy our film this year? Where are these people coming from? And, what medications are they taking?

a.k.a. photography is an exhibit dedicated to the unique images created exclusively from Polaroid film. The image above was taken with Polaroid SX-70 film that was heated with an iron, scraped with a paper clip and rubbed with a golf tee. What kind of childhood did this kid have?

a.k.a. photography is an exhibit dedicated to the unique images created exclusively from Polaroid film. Some artists use boiling water and an array of sharp implements to create these images. We’re pretty sure there’s a straightjacket with their name on it.
