Inspiring – the new ALUCOBOND®
spectra colours
In cooperation with the world leading
pigment and lacquer producers, Merck
and Beckers, the new Spectra colour
series was developed by Alcan begin-
ning of this year. The nine colours of
the new palette have a colour range
including natural shades, brilliant and
gleaming metals, and modern precious
luxury goods. With its subtle nuances
and colour contrasts, the new Spectra
series celebrates the natural colour shifts
that occur in everyday materials. The
new colours were inspired by the glow-
ing luster and sheen in modern metals
and the colour shifts found in nature and
modern luxury goods. Depending upon
the pigment type and viewing angle, dif-
ferent wavelengths of (omit the) light
are reflected back to the view, resulting
in an ever-changing colour gradient with
iridescent highlights.
Inspirant – les nouvelles couleurs
ALUCOBOND® Spectra
En coopération avec les leaders
mondiaux pour pigments et lacques,
Merck et Beckers, la nouvelle série
Spectra a été elaborée au début de
cette année. Les neuf nouvelles
couleurs sont d isponib les dès
maintenant. Avec ses nuances et
contrastes subtils Spectra met en
valeur les couleurs naturellement
changeantes.
ALUCOBOND® Spectra Farben
Zusammen mit den weltweit führenden
Pigment- und Lackherstellern Merck
und Beckers, hat Alcan Anfang des
Jahres die neuen Spectra Farben ent-
wickelt. Die neun Farben der neuen
Palette sind ab sofort erhältlich. Die
neue Farbserie zelebriert die natürliche
Farbentfaltung in Materialien unseres
täglichen Lebens: zarte Nuancen
und Farbkontraste, wie sie überall in
der Natur vorkommen, der glühende
Glanz und Schimmer von Metallen und
die Farbspiele heutiger Luxusgüter.
Spectra Farben folgen dem Prinzip
farbveränderlicher Oberflächen in der
Natur. Je nach Pigmentart und Betrach-
tungswinkel werden unterschiedliche
Wellenlängen des Lichtes auf den
Betrachter zurückreflektiert, wodurch
wechselnde Farbverläufe mit schil-
lernden Glanzlichtern entstehen.

ALUCOBOND®, 4 mm,

Als die Fluor Corporation sich für den
Neubau einer Firmenzentrale in Irving,
Texas, entschied, war der Zeitplan ex-
trem wichtig. Acht Monate nach Beginn
der Planung war der Bau fertig.
ALUCOBOND® trug zu diesem beeindru-
ckenden Zeitplan mit Hilfe einer neuen
Anwendung bei: maßgefertigte Sonnen-
blenden. Diese wurden rascher entworfen,
angearbeitet und montiert als fertige
Bauelemente und leisteten einen Beitrag
für die Einreichung zur Zertifizierung des
Green Building Rating System (LEED).
Der Abstand von der Außenwand zum
Träger von 30 Fuß ermöglicht eine bes-
sere Ausleuchtung der Innenräume, und
somit Energieeinsparung. „Wir wollten
ein gemeinschaftliches, offenes Gefühl –
deshalb so viel Glas. Das Glas gibt dem
Bauwerk Raum. Wir nutzen die Sonnen-
blenden zur Kühlung des Gebäudes,
zur Reduktion der Hitzebelastung und
damit nachmittags mehr Komfort für die
Mitarbeiter.“, so DeWitt Porter, Fluor
Corporation Dave Jennings von NOW
Specialties fügt hinzu: „Aufgrund der
sehr langen Lieferzeiten der Fertigbau-
teile war die Alternative Sonnenblenden
aus ALUCOBOND® – eine neue und
eher unübliche Anwendung für uns, aber
es hat optimal geklappt.“ „Wir haben
ALUCOBOND® an den Leibungen und
vertikalen Wandflächen eingesetzt. Die
Sonnenblenden passten perfekt. Sie
wirken hervorragend in Bezug auf Aus-
sehen und Farbgestaltung.“, sagte Ryor,
Projektmanager von Clayco Inc. „Das
war unsere erste Erfahrung dieser Art
mit Aluminium-Verbundplatten und wir
sind sehr zufrieden mit dem Produkt.“,
so der Architekt McOlgan.
ALUCOBOND® contributed to this impressive timeline with a new appli-
cation – custom sunscreen louvers. They were designed, fabricated and
delivered for installation much faster than pre-manufactured sunscreens and
contributed to this project’s submission for certification by the (LEED) Green
Building Rating System.
The distance from the exterior wall to the core being 30 feet allows for better
day lighting of the interior and that, in turn, reduces the lighting load. “We
wanted a corporate, open feel and that’s why we have all of the glass. The
glass makes the building feel more spacious. We used the louvers to aid in
cooling the building, to reduce the heat load, and to make the building more
comfortable for people in the afternoon.”, so DeWitt Porter, Fluor Corpora-
tion. Dave Jennings of NOW Specialties adds: “Because of the very long

Lorsque Fluor Corporation décida de
créer un nouveau bureau central à
Irving, Texas, un court délai dans la
construction s’imposait. Celle-ci était
achevée 8 mois seulement après les
premiers plans de design.
ALUCOBOND® contribua à cet impres-
sionnant axe de temps dans un nouveau
domaine – des persiennes adaptées sur
mesure. Design, fabrication et livraison
furent plus rapides que pour des persiennes
préfabriquées, ce qui contribua à soumettre
ce projet pour certification au Green Building
Rating System (LEED).
Selon DeWitt Porter,
Fluor Corporation : « Nous voulions un
sentiment d’ouverture commune, c’est ce
qui explique tout ce verre. Il rend le bâtiment
plus spacieux. Nous avons utilisé les
persiennes pour réduire l’intensité de la
chaleur, rafraîchir le bâtiment et le rendre
plus agréable pendant l’après-midi ». Dave
Jennings du Now Specialities ajoute :
« Nous avons opté pour les persiennes
ALUCOBOND® en raison du long délai
de livraison du produit préfabriqué. Ce
fut une demande nouvelle et inhabituelle,
mais tout a fonctionné. » Selon Ryor,
Clayco Inc., chargé de projet : « Nous
avons appliqué ALUCOBOND® sur les
soffites et les panneaux verticaux au mur;
les persiennes s’intègrent parfaitement.
Elles sont magnifiques par l’apparence
et l’harmonie dans les couleurs. » Quant
à l’architecte McOlgan : « Ce fut notre
première expérience avec des panneaux
composites dans ce domaine et nous
sommes entièrement satisfaits du
résultat. »
lead times on the pre-manufactured product, we presented the alternative:
sunscreens made of ALUCOBOND®. This was a new and rather unusual ap-
plication for us. But it worked out very well.”
“We used ALUCOBOND® on the soffits and vertical panels on the walls; the
sunscreen louvers matched perfectly. They turned out very well in their look
and color match.”, said Ryor, project manager, Clayco Inc.
“This was our first experience using ACM in this fashion and we are very
pleased with the final product,” said the architect McOlgan.

The forecourt of 62 meters of height joins to the internal environments, which
are protected by a glass curtain being illuminated at night. In the basement
two flagstone gardens extend the idea of a building enhancing the quality
of life.
The volume of the basement explodes by forming curves. The glass curtain
is a concave blade with different tonality than the one used on the other
faces of the building. It concludes the front of the building and is hugged
by the lateral façades of ALUCOBOND® – to prolongate the construction
visually. The arched skin advances beyond the covering. In opposition to
the concave line of the glass curtain, the lateral faces form convex vertical
plans of ALUCOBOND®.
The construction was generated in function of the ambit and the climatisa-
tion of the central forecourt. The conception and the materials of the building
provide internal and external space quality. The creation of a microclimate in
this sector was achieved by the use of the flagstone concept, the use of the
light and the consideration of the acoustic comfort. In the interior, the flag-
stone-garden becomes present through halls open to the space frame of the
glass curtain. The luminous plasticity catches the natural light during the day,
thus reducing the energy consumption. To improve the ambient microclimate,
plated and reflective glass develops a system of natural ventilation.

Die 62 Meter hohe Vorhalle verbindet die
Innenräume, die durch eine in der Nacht
beleuchtete Glasfront abgeschirmt wer-
den. Im Parterre führen zwei Steingärten
die Idee fort, Lebensqualität durch ein
Gebäude an sich zu verbessern.
Der Raum über der Grundfläche explodiert
in kurvigen Formen. So gleicht die Glasflä-
che einem konkaven Schwert und steht in
konträrer Tonalität zu den weiteren Fassa-
denteilen. Seitliche ALUCOBOND® - Flächen
rahmen die abschließende Glasfront ein
und verlängern somit die Konstruktion
optisch. Als Kontrapunkt zur gläsernen
konkaven Linie erstrecken sich konvexe,
vertikale Flächen aus ALUCOBOND®.
Die Konstruktion steht in Funktion zum
weiten Raum und der Klimatisierung der
zentralen Vorhalle. Das architektonische
Konzept sowie die Materialwahl erschaf-
fen interne und externe Raumqualität.
Durch die Steingärten, den gezielten
Einsatz von Licht und durch akustischen
Komfort entsteht ein Mikroklima. Der
Steingarten im Interieur wird präsent,
indem Räume sich bis zum Tragwerk
der Glasfläche öffnen. Diese luminöse
Plastizität fängt das Tageslicht ein und
reduziert so den Energieverbrauch für
künstliches Licht. Um das offene Mikro-
klima zu verbessern wird eine natürliche
Ventilation mit Hilfe von beschichtetem,
reflektierendem Glas erzielt.

Unternehmens visualisiert. Eleganz und Moderne werden mit Hilfe von
ALUCOBOND® in Spectra Copper perfekt in Szene gesetzt.

Un bâtiment pour un monde du travail
flexible:
flexibles. 120 postes de travail ont été créés
sur une surface brute de 3 000 m². La salle
prototype est intégrée au rez-de-chaussée.
L’atrium central relie les étages supérieurs
et favorise la communication interne. La
société HBPO est l’unique entreprise au
monde, spécialisée dans la conception,
la construction, l’intégration, le montage
et la logistique de modules d’interfaces
utilisateurs complexes. Cette image novatrice
se retrouve dans le nouveau siège de
l’entreprise. Avec ALUCOBOND® en couleur
Spectra Cuivre, élégance et modernité se
retrouvent sur le devant de la scène.
A building for a flexible working place:
After only 10 months of construction, the
global headquarters of the HBPO arose at
Rixbecker Street 111. This building is the
first phase of a new geographic expansion,
with the basic design objectives of innova-
tion, independence, and connectivity. Clad
in over 1 000m² of new ALUCOBOND®
Spectra Copper, the architects Matern &
Wäschle, Paderborn strove to present a
new rendition of the existing community
image. The cupreous colour is a modern
interpretation of brick, and harmonizes the
new facility with the neighboring buildings
in the traditional Wilhelminian style. The
folding of the panels at the reveals and
smooth fabrication of the corner curves
with a bending radius of 1.80m were
achieved in single panel applications; a
testament to ALUCOBOND®’s formability
and rigidity. The complex reflects the
philosophy of its future-oriented em-
ployees and supports the modern work
organization with its communicative,
bright and flexible rooms. New working
places for up to 120 staff members were
created on a gross surface of 3 000 m².
On the ground floor the prototype hall is
integrated, whereas the central atrium

Spectra copper 907
Unternehmens visualisiert. Eleganz und Moderne werden mit Hilfe von
ALUCOBOND® in Spectra Copper perfekt in Szene gesetzt.

A building for a flexible working place:
After only 10 months of construction, the
global headquarters of the HBPO arose at
Rixbecker Street 111. This building is the
first phase of a new geographic expansion,
with the basic design objectives of innova-
tion, independence, and connectivity. Clad
in over 1 000m² of new ALUCOBOND®
Spectra Copper, the architects Matern &
Wäschle, Paderborn strove to present a
new rendition of the existing community
image. The cupreous colour is a modern
interpretation of brick, and harmonizes the
new facility with the neighboring buildings
in the traditional Wilhelminian style. The
folding of the panels at the reveals and
smooth fabrication of the corner curves
with a bending radius of 1.80m were
achieved in single panel applications; a
testament to ALUCOBOND®’s formability
and rigidity. The complex reflects the
philosophy of its future-oriented em-
ployees and supports the modern work
organization with its communicative,
bright and flexible rooms. New working
places for up to 120 staff members were
created on a gross surface of 3 000 m².

an.
Kasan, the capital of the Russian
republic Tatarstan, is a pearl of archi-
tecture unifying the characteristics
of orient and occident. The kremlin
of Kasan is among the world’s most
beautiful, and is part of the World
Heritage Site list.
The architectural challenge to plan a
new office building of the oil company
“Tatgasinvest” was therefore extremely
high. The most attractive solution was
presented by the architects Jewgeni
Jewsejew and Nikolai Nowikow. The
building would be located near the city’s
most important natural monument; the
Kasanka River promenade. Therefore, a
symbiotic harmony between architec-
ture and environment had to be created.
The river’s serpentine flow served as
the inspiration for the project’s design;
smooth, meandering sides on a tradi-
tional triangular building. The optimal
realisation of this basic shape required a
flexible material with broad technological
features. The completion of this innova-
tive concept could be met perfectly with
ALUCOBOND®. Innovation was the
guiding theme as well for the sophis-
ticated technology of sub construction
and cladding system. The colour choice
for the building was inspired by the river
Kasanka again. The façade with glass and
grey elements of ALUCOBOND® adapts
the fluvial scenery and reflects the blue
sky and the water. Buildings can begin to
symbolize the growth and development
of a community. “Tatgasinvest” is such
an innovative, technological symbol in
harmony with the surroundings.

Inspiring – the new ALUCOBOND®
spectra colours
In cooperation with the world leading
pigment and lacquer producers, Merck
and Beckers, the new Spectra colour
series was developed by Alcan begin-
ning of this year. The nine colours of
the new palette have a colour range
including natural shades, brilliant and
gleaming metals, and modern precious
luxury goods. With its subtle nuances
and colour contrasts, the new Spectra
series celebrates the natural colour shifts
that occur in everyday materials. The
new colours were inspired by the glow-
ing luster and sheen in modern metals
and the colour shifts found in nature and
modern luxury goods. Depending upon
the pigment type and viewing angle, dif-
ferent wavelengths of (omit the) light
are reflected back to the view, resulting
in an ever-changing colour gradient with
iridescent highlights.
Inspirant – les nouvelles couleurs
ALUCOBOND® Spectra
En coopération avec les leaders
mondiaux pour pigments et lacques,
Merck et Beckers, la nouvelle série
Spectra a été elaborée au début de
cette année. Les neuf nouvelles
couleurs sont d isponib les dès
maintenant. Avec ses nuances et
contrastes subtils Spectra met en
valeur les couleurs naturellement
changeantes.
ALUCOBOND® Spectra Farben
Zusammen mit den weltweit führenden
Pigment- und Lackherstellern Merck
und Beckers, hat Alcan Anfang des
Jahres die neuen Spectra Farben ent-
wickelt. Die neun Farben der neuen
Palette sind ab sofort erhältlich. Die
neue Farbserie zelebriert die natürliche
Farbentfaltung in Materialien unseres
täglichen Lebens: zarte Nuancen
und Farbkontraste, wie sie überall in
der Natur vorkommen, der glühende
Glanz und Schimmer von Metallen und
die Farbspiele heutiger Luxusgüter.
Spectra Farben folgen dem Prinzip
farbveränderlicher Oberflächen in der
Natur. Je nach Pigmentart und Betrach-
tungswinkel werden unterschiedliche
Wellenlängen des Lichtes auf den
Betrachter zurückreflektiert, wodurch
wechselnde Farbverläufe mit schil-
lernden Glanzlichtern entstehen.
