TIME TO BE INSPIRED! ACAD SUMMER RESIDENCY TYPE OF RESIDENCY: Self-Directed/Production DISCIPLINES + MEDIA: Studio Jewellery + metals LOCATION: ACAD Campus NUMBER OF RESIDENTS: 15+ ACAD’s Summer Residency is open to all post-secondary alumni, graduating students and emerging artists. This one or two-month residency will provide an opportunity for artists to access studio space and engage in peer collaboration for the summer of 2016 at a minimal facility fee of $500 for 2 months or $300 for 1 month. ACAD is striving to offer students, alumni and emerging artists the opportunity to engage in innovation, research and exploration in art and design throughout the entire year. The Summer Residency is an important part of realizing these objectives, incorporating space, time and open studios into the programming. The focus of this residency program is to provide emerging artists, of various disciplines, the space and time to engage in independent/self-directed study or collaborate with others. Applicants to the program are expected to provide a comprehensive proposal of their intentions, samples from their portfolio and a current CV. To assist in the development of creative works five alumni applicants will be selected to have their two-month facility fee waived and receive a $500 honorarium. An additional five $100 material honorariums are available to all other applicants who request a two-month residency. All honorariums are awarded based on merit of application, work and statement of intent. Selected residents can expect a large studio space with access to shared spray booth or jewrllery bench with soldering station access, studio insurance and an open studio exhibition. There will be no access to other areas of the college or heavy machinery and the use of large-scale electrical items is prohibited.
