Pat EnsorExecutive Director, W.I. Dykes Library

Along with many around the country and the world, we, the staff of the University of Houston-Downtown W.I. Dykes Library, mourn the murder of Houstonian George Floyd. We stand in solidarity with the Black community everywhere and condemn the centuries-long racism and violence of which Mr. Floyd’s murder is an expression.

We acknowledge the shameful history of exclusion of people of color in higher education. In line with the Library’s mission, vision, and values, we pledge to oppose racism and systemic violence against people of color in our campus community, whether intentional or unintentional.Read the rest of the statement here.
