SAISD is closing the gap on the completion rate indicator compared to the State. (State accountability measures graduated, received GED, or continued in high school.) The difference between SAISD’s completion rate as compared to the State decreased from 3.3 points in 2002 to 2.5 points in 2004. The completion rate includes graduates, GED recipients, and students continuing in high school. This is the current accountability indicator.

District and State Graduation/Student Status Rates SAISD’s “on-time” graduation rate has increased from 70% in 1999 to 79% in

2004. The measure reflects the percentage of students who graduate “on time”

determined by their original 9th Grade class, including students who transfer into the District. (Federal accountability standards measure only four year graduates.)

District and State Student College Entrance Exam Performance On average, SAISD students consistently score below state levels on both the

SAT and ACT college entrance exams, but we made gains on the gap in SAT. Research suggests that socioeconomic status does influence scores. Students

with a family income below $30,000 represented 67% of our district but only 26% for the state on the SAT.
