These suggestions will be taken forward and consideration given as to how they can be incorporated into the rest of the project. In the questionnaire the children were also asked to give a score out of 10 to three questions which are set out below, along with their responses.
1. Overall how has the mentoring programme been for you so far?
2. How useful are the mentoring assemblies with Mr Stewart?
3. How interesting/useful was the first motivation day?
It should be noted of course that the Year 6 staff, through their day-to-day work, have made a tremendous contribution to these outcomes and in that sense the mentoring programme has significantly augmented the work that would have taken place in any case.
Staff from across school have been impressed by the increasing level of maturity shown by the children who have developed an intrinsic focus and determination to achieve their very best. Equally visitors who took part in the Motivation Day have spoken very highly of their time with the children, in particular the quality of their questioning skills and the level of interest and understanding which the children demonstrated.
Class teachers have reported some noticeable changes in the children over the course of the project including:

Working in partnership with Herman Stewart from Every Child Needs A Mentor, we launched our mentoring project with 89 Year 6 children in December 2014. Within one term, we delivered a series of assemblies along with the first Motivation Day and two staff training events. Mentors also meet weekly with their mentees in small groups. During the Motivation Day the children were able to meet with adults who have a variety of different jobs, with the aim of finding out that the keys to their success were.
In order to assess the impact on the children so far, each child has completed a questionnaire and some children have contributed to a short film, mentors and class teachers have also shared their views.
