Academic Performance Evaluation (APE)
The annual assessment of your academic performance – based on number of credits completed (pass or fail).
You must meet the minimum CGPA requirement each year to remain and continue in BCom or BIB
APE is only calculated once you have taken 4.0 credits, and then every subsequent 4.0 credits
When Is APE Calculated?
An annual assessment of your performance happens after winter term.
In early June, a decision is posted in your Carleton Central account under Student Records/myProgress (APE)
This assessment is based on all courses taken prior to present summer term
Outcomes of APE Evaluation
The possible outcomes of the evaluation include:
Good Standing: CGPA requirements are met Continue in BCom/BIB
Academic Warning (AW): below the CGPA requirement by no more than 1.0-point. Continue in BCom/BIB for at least one more year
Continue in Alternate (CA): below the CGPA requirement by more than 1.0-point OR was previously AW and did not meet the required CGPA Removed from BCom/BIB

Talk to the Sprott Advisors in 710 Dunton Tower Consider withdrawing from a course if you’re not doing
well. Discuss with your professor and advisor. Retake the course in the winter. Sometimes waiting
until summer is too late! Discuss this with your advisor.
NOTE: If you repeat a course, the grade in the 2nd attempt counts - for better or worse!
