Speakers and Lecturers

The Academy will present a variety of distinguished speakers and seminars throughout each year. Topics and subjects presented will range from: good business practice to world-class methods, products, and techniques.

Philosophy and Objectives

The Academy has established itself as a reputable establishment in the field of health, beauty, and well being, and continues to strive for excellence and professionalism in massage therapy, facial skin care, beauty therapy, and nail technology. A broad range of educational courses, seminars, and subjects are presented with the understanding of both Eastern and Western philosophy and methods.

Academy programs began in 1979 specializing in natural health and fitness programs, courses and classes, which included senior citizen fitness, arthritis self-help, aerobics, nutrition, and energy training courses. Many of these Programs and academy instructors have been featured, both on ABC and NBC television including: Good Morning Palm Beaches, People Will Talk, PM Magazine, Focus, and many others. Academy Instructors have also appeared in many magazine articles, including “Changing Times.”

In 1983, the Academy became a licensed massage establishment, and provided stress management programs for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. In 1984, the Academy was licensed by the State Board of Independent Postsecondary Vocational, Technical, Trade, and Business Schools, as a school of massage therapy and facial skin Care, license # 700. On August 2000, the Academy of Healing Arts was approved to teach the Nail Technology program. On May 18, 2001, the Academy of Healing Arts was approved to teach Cosmetology. In 2005, the academy changed its name to Academy of Palm Beach.

The mission of the Academy of Palm Beach is to provide students with skill, development, and the quality career education needed to become competent specialists in a high-demand career fields.

The Academy of Palm Beach’s primary goal is to train career minded individuals and offer education which will prepare our students to meet all the requirements and skills necessary, to become licensed specialists with proper training and experience in their careers.

Presently, the Academy is a private Vocational School providing professional courses, treatments, continuing education courses, and professional development workshops in: Permanent Makeup, Eyelash Extensions, Hair Extensions, Makeup Artistry, Airbrushing Makeup, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, Photo Rejuvenation, Advanced Hair Cutting, State Exam Reviews, Instructor Training, Stone Therapy, Reflexology, Aromatherapy. Facial Skin Care, Beauty Therapy, Basic and Advanced Body Wrapping, Lymphatic Drainage, and Nutritional Health Management.

Location and FacilitiesThe Academy is located in a two story, 8500 square foot, professional complex, complete with; central air-conditioning, offices,classrooms, conference and lounge area, exercise and massage training room, private and semi private treatment rooms, sixshowers, lockers, and a complete bookstore.

The first floor has special facilities for the handicapped, including: parking, restrooms, a common area, classroom, and treatmentrooms. The second floor does not offer special facilities. Textbooks and course materials are available in Braille through theDivision of Blind Services.

The Academy has its own Oasis Lounge Waterfall Chair, Alpha Health Environment Capsule, and Hydro-Therapy Massage Tub.The Waterfall Chair, with its zero gravity contour couch, is based on NASA research, according to the manufacture design studio,located in New York. This shape holds the body in the form it naturally takes during weightlessness. The Waterfall Chair emits awonderful lush water sound while moist heat relaxes sore muscles.

The new revolutionary Alpha Health Environment Capsule, has achieved perfection in its quest for natural health and beauty. Thiscapsule features user-friendly controls for operating the many functions displayed on the panel. With the aid of a computerizedcontrol panel, dry sauna, intensity of massage vibrations, face air speed, stereo sound levels, and aromatherapy scents arepersonally operated. There are ten pre-programmed sessions, ranging from relaxation to weight-loss and feature profoundrelaxation and visual light effects at predetermined wavelengths.

The Hydro Therapy Massage Tub is used for a variety of treatments, including; seaweed, mud, and aromatherapy. Hydro-therapyMassage is extremely beneficial to any stress related health problem, and used in sports therapy and the treatment of other healthconditions. Water pressure and temperature are adjustable to provide personalized comfort and twelve therapeutic multi-directional jets pulsate and stimulate for maximum effect on all parts of the body.

Located in Lake Worth, Florida, in the middle of Palm Beach County’s westward expansion, the Academy is convenient to severalschools of higher education, shopping centers, housing developments, businesses, and country clubs. Near Interstate I-95 and theFlorida Turnpike, we are only minutes away from all public beaches.

Classes at the Academy are designed so that everyone attending receives the maximum benefits of both classroom and practicalapplication. Classroom/Laboratory size is approximately 25-30 students, and the approximate maximum capacity of the school’sfacility is 60 students.

Programs of Study

Massage Therapy (624 Hours)This program of study in massage therapy is designed to teachand train students in a variety of situations that may beencountered as an entry level Massage Therapist. Successfulcompletion of this course will enable the student to become atrained therapist, capable of working in a variety ofprofessional establishments, including: resorts, spas,prestigious country club communities, full service salons, aswell as working with physicians and chiropractors, or theability to become self-employed. Massage Therapy, is presentlyone of the fastest growing career professions in the UnitedStates.

Facial Specialty (300 Hours)This program of study, is designed to meet all Floridarequirements and learning objectives as an entry level “FacialSpecialist”. The skin care industry is a growing segment of the$18 Billion salon and cosmetics industry and qualified FacialSpecialists are in demand in many spas, resorts, departmentstores, and full service salons throughout Florida and theUnited States. Excellent career opportunities exist forexperienced Facial Specialists or Estheticians.

Beauty Therapy (900 Hours)The Beauty Therapy program of study, is designed to teach andtrain students with the knowledge and requirements necessaryin entry-level positions in Massage Therapy and FacialSpecialty. Beauty Therapy, which is popular in Europe,includes training in: Massage Therapy, Facial Skin Care,Aromatherapy, Thalassotherapy, and Body Wraps, enablingthe graduate student to qualify for a variety of positions withmany establishments, spas, resorts, full service salons, or theability to become self-employed. The Academy was the firstschool licensed in Florida to teach this program of study.

Nail Specialty (240 Hours)Este programa está diseñado para preparar a los estudiantescomo especialistas en uñas a nivel de entrada. El programaincluye: pedicura, manicura, y adición de extensiones de uñanatural. Además, los estudiantes aprenderán el arte de esculpiruñas, entre ellos: revestimientos de gel, envolviendo la tela yacrílico. También se cubrirá la anatomía y la fisiología de lamano, el brazo y el pie, las uñas y sus problemas, la éticaempresarial, la teoría de la composición química de losproductos, y la seguridad en la escuela y el salón de uñas.

Cosmetology (1200 Hours)This program of study is designed to teach and train studentswith the necessary skills, knowledge, and practical experiencenecessary for the student to apply for licensure in the state ofFlorida; and, work as an entry-level Cosmetologist. Studentswill learn proper use of hair implements, coloring, chemicaltreatments, hairstyling, hair cutting, shampooing,conditioning, skin care, waxing and hair removal, manicuring,pedicure, and an introduction to nail extensions.

ClinicThe Academy offers a clinical establishment as a valuable toolfor learning, and as a service to the community, providingmassage and facial skin care in a comfortable and professionalatmosphere. Under the direction of the Director of Training,students work in in a variety of situations the may encounteras a professional: Massage Therapist, Beauty Therapist, FacialSpecialist, Nail Specialist, or Cosmetologist; and, gain valuableexperience in this training program.

Clinical Training

The purpose of clinical training, is to increase studentexposure to conditions commonly encountered in a massageand/or esthetics business practice. Proper dress code duringclinical practice is mandatory. Students of Massage Therapy,are required to complete 125 hours of clinical massage, and 100hours of practical massage, for a total of 225 service hours priorto graduation. Facial Skin care students, are required tocomplete 30 hours of clinical facials, 30 hours of practicalfacials, 10 hours of clinical waxes, and 10 hours of practicalwaxes, 5 services with electrical devices, and manualextractions, 10 services of: Makeup, Lash and Brow Tinting,and Eyelash Application, for a total of 120 service hours, priorto graduation. Students enrolled in the Beauty Therapyprogram, are required to complete 125 hours of clinicalmassage, 100 hours of practical massage, 30 hours of clinicalfacials, 30 hours of practical facials, 10 hours of clinical waxes,10 hours of practical waxes, 5 services with electrical devices,and manual extractions, 10 services of: Makeup, Lash and BrowTinting, and Eyelash Application, for a total of 345 servicehours, prior to graduation. Students enrolled in the NailSpecialty program, will be required to complete 140 nailservices. Students enrolled in the Cosmetology program, willbe required to complete 610 services.

Approvals, Accreditation, And Governing Body

The Academy was first licensed by The State Board ofIndependent Postsecondary Vocational, Technical, Trade andBusiness Schools, in May of 1984, under the name Natural WayFitness Academy of Healing Arts. In January of 1987 theAcademy changed its name to, Academy of Healing Arts,Massage & Facial Skin Care, Inc. in 2001 the state of Floridachanged the name of the licensing board to, The Commissionfor Independent Education, which now license the Academy ofHealing Arts, Massage & Facial Skin Care, Inc. Our licensenumber is 700. In October of 2005, the Academy changed itsname to, Academy of Palm Beach. The Academy is accredited through the AccreditingCommission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). ACCSCis an accrediting commission recognized by the U.S.Department of Education. Accreditation is a standard ofexcellence ensuring that the training the school providesadheres to the standards against which all: private, trade,technical, and business schools can be measured. It alsoensures that the school is financially sound, and performs in aprofessional manner.

The Florida Department of Veteran’s Affairs/Bureau of StateApproving Veterans Training, approves the Academy fortraining Veteran students.

The Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP)approved our curriculum, and the Florida Board of Massageand Continuing Education Provider (MCE-7) also approve us.This Academy is a member of the Florida Better BusinessBureau (BBB), and is Governed by the Board of Directors ofThe Academy of Healing Arts, Massage & Facial Skin Care,Inc., located at: 3141 South Military Trail, Lake Worth, Florida33463-2113. M.J. Artemik, is President and treasurer, andAngela K. Artemik, is Vice-President and Secretary of theCorporation.

The Academy is Authorized to accept and enroll non-immigrant students as set forth by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). File number MIA 214F 1392.000. The Academy is approved for attendance by M-1 vocational students who are not in language training. International students must complete all necessary forms in order to have an I-20 issued.

Financial Aid

A student must apply for admission; and, be accepted to theAcademy of Palm Beach, prior to applying for financial aid.Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The studentmust maintain satisfactory academic progress to receivefinancial aid. Financial aid is awarded based upon need. Eachstudent applying for financial aid will receive a copy of “TheStudent Guide” which tells you about federal student financialaid programs, and how to apply for them. The Financial Aidoffice is open day or evening by appointment only.

The United States Department of Education defines anacademic year as 900 clock hours, this is one factor used indetermining the amount awarded to the student’s eligibility forfinancial aid. Full time students at the Academy are expectedto attend 24 hours per week.

Grant ProgramThe Academy is an eligible institution for disbursing FederalPell Grants. This is an entitlement program, which means thegrant moneys do not have to be paid back. If you are in defaulton a previous student loan, or if you hold a Bachelor's degree,you will not be eligible for a Pell Grant. Our school provideselectronic processing of the information from the FreeApplication for Financial Student Assistance. “Turnaround”time with our electronic processing, is approximately 72 hours,rather than the normal 4-6 weeks of paper processing.Students who have been accepted into the program will bescheduled for financial aid paperwork on an individual basis.

Loan Programs

Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan

This is a low interest, fixed rate loan for students attending aschool at least half time. This loan must be paid back.

Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan

This is a low interest, fixed rate loan for independent studentsenrolled at least half time. This loan must be paid back.

Federal Direct Plus Loan

This is a low interest, fixed rate loan, for parents who want toborrow to help pay for their children’s education. This loan isonly available to parents with good credit histories. This loanmust be paid back.

The Academy has numerous financing plans available for yourconvenience.

Admissions Policies(Massage Therapy, Facial Specialty, Beauty Therapy, Nail Specialty, Cosmetology)

Admission to the Academy is limited, and not more than 65 students are accepted per semester, in order to maximize the qualityof training, and personal interaction. Interested students should be physically and emotionally qualified, be of good character, andbe able to read and write, as determined by the Director, during the application interview. The Academy does not discriminateagainst applicants for admission on the basis of race, color sex, religion, marital status, or national origin.

The Academy believes in classes designed so that all students receive total and proper instruction. Enrollment is limited andstudents are asked to meet the following requirements:

1. Must be 18 years of age or older.

2. Be a High School graduate, and have a High School Diploma, or G.E.D. equivalent or pass an Ability to Benefit* testWonderlic Basic Skills Test with the following scores: A combined score of 200 for Verbal Skills-1 and Verbal Skills-2, and ascore of 210 in the Quantitative Skills.

3. Applicant must be in good health and free of any communicable disease. Prior to beginning classes, the applicant is requiredto provide a health statement signed by a licensed physician, indication the applicant is in good health and able to participatein the program(s).

4. Submit a signed registration application with a $75.00 registration fee.

5. Complete a signed Student Enrollment Agreement, as required by the Florida Commission for Independent Education,Florida Department of Education.

6. Have a personal interview with the Director or Executive Director. A telephone interview may be acceptable in certain cases.

7. Financial Aid Applicants must sign the following certificates: Statement on refund/default, anti-drug abuse act, statement ofupdated information, and a statement of registration status.

8. a) Be at least 16 years of age.

b) Have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or pass an Ability to benefit* test “Wonderlic Basic Skills Test” with the following scores: A combined score of 200 for Verbal Skills-1 and Verbal Skills-2, and a score of 210 in the Quantitative Skills.

c) Have an interview with the Director of Training.

9. For the Cosmetology program, the following conditions must be met:

a) Be at least 16 years of age.

b) Have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or pass an Ability to Benefit* test with a score equal to or above 200/215.

*An Ability to Benefit enrolled student will be required to meet with a G.E.D. Coordinator, before the start of the program.

Student Services

HousingHousing is not provided for students enrolled in training courses; however, there are numerous rental facilities nearby andhousing should not be difficult to find. In some cases, we try to assist students in securing housing.

Student LibraryThe Academy or Palm Beach students are encouraged to make use of the video/book library. This school provides three video areasin which the students may watch videos pertaining to the classes at the school, or other related materials. Massage and Skin Careclasses have been video taped for student review, plus the school, to enhance classroom instruction, has purchased a variety ofprofessional videos. Students must sign out videos and books from the library and log time watched. The library is open from10:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday, and 11:00am to 3:00pm Saturdays.

Student LoungeThe Academy students are provided with a lounge area on the premises. Students may bring their lunch or dinner with them, ororder food from nearby restaurants and utilize the lounge during the appropriate time in their schedule. A microwave oven,refrigerator, and vending machines, are found in the student lounge to provide refreshments to Academy students.

BookstoreThe Academy has a book, video, and equipment store on premises. All required textbooks, uniforms, and massage and skin careproducts are available for purchase. The book store is open to students and the general public, and features a variety of books,videos, posters, charts, massages tables and chairs, cosmetic supplies and equipment, oils, creams, and lotions. The Academybookstore also carried over 100 different Aromatherapy essential oils, skin care and support Products. Seaweed products fromFrance, and Dead Sea products and mud from Israel, complete an international variety of hard to find sale items.

Job Placement AssistanceWhile the Academy does not guarantee employment, job placements service is available. Many world-class establishments andfacilities contact the Academy seeking qualified and well-trained Estheticians, Massage Therapists, Beauty Therapists, NailSpecialists, and Cosmetologists. It is the policy of the Academy to assist students in finding entry-level employment aftergraduation. Prior to and after graduation the job assistance departments will advise the student in career development skills thatwill assist the student in finding entry-level employment. The Job Placement Coordinator will contact various employers in thefields of Massage Therapy, Skin Specialty, Nail Specialty, and Cosmetology programs. The student must comply with JobPlacement Assistance Department guidelines to take full advantage of the program.

AdvisingThe Academy C.E.O., Director of Training, and Administrator are available by appointment to advise assist and direct students ifrequired.

Campus SecurityThis Academy has had no crimes on its property during this reporting period. We offer a safe two-story school, well lighted withpaved and lighted parking areas immediately in front of and on the south side of the building. The building was constructed in1980.

The Academy of Palm Beach curriculum has met the Educational Standards and Requirements of the Associated Bodywork andMassage Professionals and is recognized as an A.B.M.P. curriculum endorsed program of instruction for professional MassageTherapy and “Related Healing Arts.”

Attendance Policies

Students are encouraged to attend classes regularly. Thestudent who is going to be absent is requested to call theschool beforehand. Five days of un-excused absence, or 30 hours missed in a 30-day period, may result in a warning. Seven days of un-excused absence, or 42 hours missed in a 30-day period, may result in a student being placed on probation. Ten days of un-excused absence, or 60 hours missed in a 30-day period, may result in a student being dismissed from the program. Excused Absences – For an absence to be excused, astudent must present on of the following:

1. A note from a physician, dentist, hospital, etc.

2. A note from your employer.

3. A note from court.

4. A note in regards to your child’s absence from school.

5. An obituary showing the death of an immediate relative.

6. Travel receipts proving a family emergency.

7. Other excuses will be accepted at the discretion of the campus director.

In order to receive credit for an excused absence, the student must turn in written notice of said absence(s) no later than the following Monday from which the absence occurred. If absence notices are received after Monday, the absence will be treated as an un-excused absence and will result in a charge of $6.00 per hour to the student’s account. All charges are to be paid promptly as students are not permitted to accumulate a balance. Students missing clinical/practical hours have an option of making up these classes on Saturday, or during another scheduled class with the permission of the Director of Training. Missing clinical/practical hours is discouraged and will not be tolerated if it acts to prolong a student’s stay in school thus interfering with the student’s expected date of graduation and could cause additional fees in order to graduate.

TardinessA Student is considered tardy, if he/she enters class more than five minutes after the scheduled start time. All students are strongly urged to be in class at the time that instruction is scheduled to begin. Students who consistently enter class after the scheduled start time will receive a warning. If a student is tardy, he/she will not be permitted into the class until the class break, which is approximately midway through the scheduled time period. Three un-excused tardies within a 30-day period, may result in a warning to the student. Five un-excused tardieswithin a 30-day period, may result in the student being placed on probation. Seven un-excused tardies in a 30-day period, may result in the student being dismissed from the program.

Make-up Work Policy1. A student who is absent from class is required to make-up all: assignments, quizzes, tests, and reports that correspond to that class.

2. A student missing classroom hours of anatomy and physiology will be required to make up those hours, either by attending the specific class missed at another scheduled time by watching the required anatomy and physiology videos from the school’s video library, or by completing a project assigned by the Director of Training, corresponding to the specific classes missed (excused or un-excused). In all cases, the Director of Training will determine the method of making up missed classes for the student.

3. A student missing Massage Theory and Clinical Practice hours will be required to make-up the hours by attending Massage Theory and Clinical Practice at another scheduled time.

4. Any hours missed by a student in any other areas of study are required to be made-up on an hour-for-hour basis, by attending the class at another scheduled time, by watching the required videos from the school’s video library, or by completing a project assigned by the Director of Training, corresponding to the specific subject missed.

5. Make-up tests and quizzes may be allowed, due to an emergency or medical excuse, at the discretion of the Director of Training.

Standards of Conduct

Students are expected to conduct themselves as responsible adults and be a credit to themselves and the Academy with generallyaccepted guidelines for successful employment. Students who do not follow the rules and regulations of the Academy will besubject to dismissal.

Student Progress Report

Students will receive regular evaluations of their progress at 25%, 50% and a summary of hours near the end of programcompletion. Students must maintain a passing grade average during these evaluation reports for each course of study offered.

Clock Hours

The Academy is on a Class-Hour system. The Florida Board of Massage defines a “clock-hour” as no less than 50 minutes of anyone-hour, during which the student participates in a learning activity in the physical presence of a faculty member.

Dress Code and Grooming

It is expected that all students shall take personal responsibility in the areas of personal hygiene and grooming while they are inschool. These areas include: bodily cleanliness, having short fingernails, and wearing a clean, wrinkle free school uniform at alltimes while the student is in the Academy, i.e. in classroom lecture, during clinical/practice massage hours, taking tests, etc. TheSchool uniform consists of scrubs that are to be washed/bleached (stains treated) on a regular basis. Shoes are to be worn at alltimes. All students are required to wear closed in (top and back) shoes for safety. Students who arrive at the Academy in clothingthat does not conform to the above code may be asked to leave. Hats and extreme piercing are not permitted.

Drug Free Policy

The Academy has a Drug-Free Policy. Any student who attends school under the influence of alcohol or other controlled substanceshall be immediately dismissed. In addition, during the orientation process, each student must sign a statement in which theyagree not to use, manufacture, distribute, or produce controlled substances, during the time the are attending school. Should astudent be arrested for violation of that signed statement, or should documentation be provided that they are in violation of thatstatement, the student shall be dismissed pending the results of an independent drug test.

Policy for Receiving V.A. Benefits

Requirements for Graduation(Massage Therapy, Facial Specialty, Beauty Therapy, Nail Specialty, Cosmetology)

In order to graduate, students must complete all course work, including: required massage hours, required services, pass all finalexaminations, pay all tuition fees in full, and meet all rules and regulations of this academy. Students will be held responsible forobtaining all notes, classroom work, and making up promptly, all work, tests, and quizzes missed during excused absences. Inorder to ensure that all grades, hours, paperwork, and fees are accounted for, there is a ten (10) day graduation-processing period.

If the Academy of Palm Beach should cancel a course or program, the Academy would train out and stop enrollment of the courseor program.

Veteran Students will be terminated for V.A. pay purposes, as aresult of three days of un-excused absence, or 18 hours missedwithin a 30-day period.

Excused absences are as follows:

1. A note from a physician, dentist, or hospital.

2. A note from court.

3. An obituary showing the death of an immediate relative (spouse, parent, or child).

4. Other excuses will be accepted upon the approval of the Director of Training, and the Veterans Administration.

Satisfactory Progress must be maintained at all times, you arerequired to have a “C” average or better upon completion of25% of the program in order to continue receiving benefits.Veteran students not maintaining a “C” average at the end of anevaluation period will be put on probation for 30 days.Educational benefits will be terminated for a V.A. student whofails to attain satisfactory progress by the end of the academicprobation period. Once the V.A. student has attainedsatisfactory progress, he/she can be recertified for benefits.

Credit for previous training will be evaluated and granted ifappropriate with training time shortened and tuition reducedproportionately with the V.A. and the veteran or eligibleperson so notified. Grades will be furnished to the V.A. studentat the end of each grading period and a copy retained in thestudent’s permanent file.

Massage Therapy is a 624 hour, six-month program of study.The Massage Therapy program of study can be completedeither in six-months, 24 hours per week, which is full time orcan be completed in eight months by completing 18 hours aweek, which is three quarter time. Tuition fee for this course ofstudy is $8,000.00.

Program ObjectivesTo motivate the students to become qualified MassageTherapists, capable of passing the national certificationexamination offered by the National Certification Board forTherapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), whichcurrently serves as Florida’s state exam. Upon passing the stateexam, the graduates may seek employment as entry-levelLicensed Massage Therapists. The 624-hour program has moreintensive in-depth training in additional areas, i.e.Aromatherapy (which is considered the wave of the future),Neuromuscular, Reflexology, Nutritional Health Management,and more in-depth good business practice.

Most state-wide and out-of-state schools offer a 624 hour ormore program and the hours are expected to increase over theyears.

The program of study at the Academy of Palm Beach isdesigned to prepare students to take the Florida state licensingexamination. This course offers an excellent foundation for thestudent to become a well-trained professional massagetherapist and permits the student to further their education inthe field of holistic health care.

The estimated cost for textbooks and supplies isapproximately $200.00. Students will be required to purchasetheir first uniform and book before the start of their program.The Oakworks Aurora massage table will be given upongraduation of the program, passing the state exam, and makingapplication to be licensed in the state of Florida.

The 624-hour program qualifies for Government Financial Aid to those who qualify.

Florida Board of Massage requires 24 hours of continuingeducation every two years to qualify to renew your MassageTherapy License. Program of Study: Facial Specialty(Facial Specialist – 300 Hour Program)

This program of study is designed to meet and exceed all requirements for Florida State registration as a “Facial Specialist” orEsthetician. Course curriculum also includes an introduction to European advanced methods and techniques.

Program ObjectivesTo motivate the students to become a qualified Facial Specialist. Upon graduation they are registered as Facial Specialists and mayseek employment as entry-level Licensed Facial Specialists.

Tuition fee is $3,550.00 for a 300 hour, (3 1/2) three and one half month course of study which includes all products used inclassroom and clinical practice. Students are required to have lab jackets purchased at their expense. Products methods andtreatments used at this Academy are mostly European and students are instructed in Aromatherapy facial treatments usingnatural essential oils and products.

The estimated cost for: textbook, facial, waxing products, and supplies is approximately $450.00. Students will be required topurchase their first uniform, book, facial products, and waxing kit before the start of their program. Facial and waxing kits will beused during class for practical and clinical practice.

All Facial Specialty students are required to complete 60 facials, 15 practical waxing, and 15 clinical waxing services at theAcademy. 30 facials are student-to-student (practical) and 30 are required in a clinical training program prior to graduation.

Nail Specialty is a 240-hour, three and a half monthprogram of study. The Nail Specialty program canbe completed in less than three and a half months, ifthe student chooses to attend more than one classper day. Tuition fee for this course of study is$1,150.00.

Program ObjectivesTo motivate the student to become a licensed NailSpecialist. Upon course completion, the student willbe proficient in the art of Nail Specialty and beprepared for final testing. With passing grades, thestudents will receive a certificate of completion andregistration application for Florida licensure.Successful graduates may see employment as anentry- level Licensed Nail Specialist.

This course is designed to prepare students tobecome a licensed Nail Specialist. Students willlearn the arts of manicuring, pedicure, and addingextensions to the natural nail. In addition, studentswill learn the art of sculpting nails, includingoverlays of gel, fabric wrapping, and acrylic. Alsocovered is the anatomy and physiology of the hand,arm, foot, the nail, and its associated disorders,business ethics, the theory of chemical compositionin products, and safety in the school and the salonitself.

The estimated cost for nail kit, books, and uniformis approximately $350.00. This cost is not includedin the tuition, and all textbooks for this course arerequired on the first day of class, and may bepurchased at the Academy. Nail kit will be usedduring class, for practical and clinical practice.

Cosmetology is an entry-level beauty course of 1200 hours andis approximately a one-year program of study. The state ofFlorida does offer a separate license for either Nail Technology,or Facial Skin Care. The Cosmetology license in Florida consistof Hair, Nails, and Facial Skin Care. The Academy uses theMilady and Pivot Point Cosmetology books. Cosmetologybooks are available in either English or Spanish. The studentmay take the state exam in either English or Castilian Spanish.The Academy has some Bilingual (Spanish) Instructors. It ishowever recommended, that Spanish students purchase anEnglish-Spanish Dictionary.

Program ObjectivesCombining lectures and hands-on training (practical experience), the student, upon successful completion of the program, will be able to apply for licensure in the state of Florida, and work as a Cosmetologist.
