Trainers Profile

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed Musa Syed Jaafar Al Habshi is currently a lecturer of IIUM Institute of Islamic

Banking and Finance (IIiBF), International Islamic University Malaysia and Shariah Committees of Bank of Tokyo-

Mitsubishi UFJ (Malaysia) Berhad. He was also appointed as Shariah Committee member of MRT since 1 June

2011 and the Independent Non-executive Director since 23 July 2008. Obtained a Diploma in Business Studies

from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore in 1984, a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) Degree from

the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1989 and a Doctorate in Business Administration Major

in Accounting and Finance from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom in 1994.

He began his career with coopers & Lybrand, Singapore as an Audit Assistant in 1984. From 1989 until 1994, he

joined IIUM as an Assitant Lecturer and upon completion of Doctoral degree he became an Assistant Professor

and held various academic administrativepositions in the University. He joined Universiti Tun Abdul Razak in

2000 as an Associated Professor and was appointed as the Head of Centre for Graduate studies in 2001. He

later served as Dean of Faculty of Business in 2005. In 2006, he joined Amanie Business Solutions Sdn and is

currently attached as fellow consultant of international Institute of Islamic Finance Inc. (IIIF) with the company.

In 2009 he resumed his academic career as Associated Professor with Universiti Tun Abdul Razak and also he

was appointed as the Dean of Graduate School of Business in 2010.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim is a lecturer at University Sains Malaysia (USIM). Prior to that, he was the Vice

Chancellor of the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) and has served the International

Islamic Universiti Malaysia (IIUM) for the past 21 years. In IIUM he served as Professor at the Faculty of

Economics and Management Sciences and Dean of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF). He has

been actively involved as the panel of academic for the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and currently sits

in the Accreditation Committee of MQA.

The ministry of Higher Education Malaysia has also appointed him as a member of the Economic and Finance

Cluster of the Majlis Professor Negara (MPN). Further, he is actively involved in the Islamic Financial industry

and currently served as member of the Shariah Committee for HSBC Amanah Malaysia. He has also served as

a Senior Research Fellow for the International Shariah Research Academy in Islamic Finance (ISRA), a research

arm of Bank Negera Malaysia.

His other involvements include independent director and member of the Board of Directors for Permodalan

Bank Simpanan Nasional Berhad (PBSN).He obtained his Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting from the

University of east London. Later, he obtained his Master in Accounting and Management Sciences, and Phd in

Accounting from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.
